Sneak Peak: Elegant Gown & Photo Shoot w/Tracy Tesmer
August 30, 2009

This afternoon I had the pleasure of shooting with the amazing Tracy Tesmer of Tracy Tesmer Photography, I love this lady!
And we decided to select an elegant gown for the occasion. This dress is always fun- silky in texture and just moves so beautifully (we will have to wait to see the other photos return from the lab since they were taken in medium format). Just wait till those photos are released- they will give you a greater look into the dress and even more of the perspective from Tracy’s talent.

This dress is just so rich, and the lighting is to die for. The details on my golden clutch is just so dreamy, too. Yum!
I never can remember where I originally found this dress- it was one of those unexpected finds in a boutique, that I do remember. It was on clearance and buried, nearly forgotten. A small fragment of the dress stuck out and caught my eye. I knew I had to have it. Such a perfect design, and a very lucky find.
The brand, I have no idea. It had no name, perhaps why it was buried in a clearance section to begin with. But a dress this elegant doesn’t need one. It speaks for itself.
More photos to come soon… so keep checking in ;D

Volume In Control: A Must Fashion Accessory
August 27, 2009

I love volume, and there is definitely a certain balance to be maintained in order for it to work wonders. There are also many options to be explored, and all of them have to do with playing around with the silhouette.
Dresses are a particular favorite of mine, and those cozy, voluminous, short ones that have been in style are a dream. Nothing like looking fabulous while being comfortable, some of them feel like silk or even as cozy as a blanket. My latest favorite, from STAR.MIMI, feels like silk against the skin. It is soft, delicate, and moves so elegantly. On it’s own, it has a good amount of volume that is in good balance because of the length (pictured above).
But what about those options? Volume is put into control with this must fashion accessory: the cinched waist belt.

Oh, the cinched waist belt, how I heart the many styles you give me. It is simple, yet can drastically change the silhouette and feel of a style. It is also my little cheat into being able to wear those cute tops and dresses that may be otherwise sold out in my size. The belt allows me to make it work- so brilliant.
I also love belts that come with an outfit- and then taking that belt to mix and match with the rest of my wardrobe. Ribbons make a great belt alternative as well. I don’t like letting good packaging go to waste!
A collection of belts leaves lots of room for creativity. And vintage belts are a thing of beauty. A simple top or dress gets a whole new personality in an instant. (Some belts.. especially the chain-like ones… depending on their weight, can also make crazy-awesome necklaces or chokers. Just a thought!)
I love the mix in fabrics on this dress- from incredibly soft cloth to a gorgeous silky shine. Fabulous. Both the STAR.MIMI dress and With Mocha heels are from yesstyle.com, I’m hooked on their products. Beautiful one-of-a-kind fashion that always keeps me in my style. And they have something for every personality and feel.

Fit-To-Kill Loving A White Rabbit Accessory
August 17, 2009

With a name like “fit-to-kill” how can you not instantly fall in love? The theme of this design is very Alice in Wonderland which strikes a lot of points from me- I’ll admit I’m mad about such styles.
This post may be a little bit mean since it turns out I was the lucky one to order the very last set of these (yes, it’s too late now) but I still love them enough to share the style idea with you. Something about miss matched earrings appeals to me. A theme keeps them together, almost like a story, but the fact that they are different is beautiful.
With this set- one side is a pretty white rabbit while the other holds dainty flowers.

In case you couldn’t tell from my hat and updo, I’m feeling especially girlie this afternoon. I have my days where I go all out for no other reason than just going all out. I love it.
The earrings are very much like from a fairy tale, also bonus points. There was another pair that I think may be available still that I had my eye on- it is a four piece set so you can mix and match to your pleasing. The signature piece (what would be like the bunny in this set) is a deer, and it comes with a pearl, mushroom, or butterfly to pair with on the other side. I’m still considering it- here’s their sneak peak from the site:

They even have an actual fairy tale set directly out of Cinderella- with choices of a crown, crystal, glass shoe, and carriage to choose from. Very adorable.
It is all very unique and makes a feminine, but darling statement. Pretty fabulous! You can look for more items from Fit-To-Kill by searching on Yes Style.

Fashion With A Little Birdie On Each Ear
August 16, 2009

I’ve been shopping and lately I’ve had an eye for earrings. I generally like to play with something elegant and different- something with its own character and story that dances between feminine sophistication and the playful imagination of childhood. I’ve found two such sets in the past couple days, here is the first set.

These earrings are from Yes Style, and last I checked still available for sale on their site. The other pair of earrings I’ll be sharing with you tomorrow sold out the moment I purchased them- I feel lucky to have gotten the last pair, they are darling!
Back to these earrings, though. Timothy calls them my “twitter” earrings, but to me they remind me of designer Alex Monroe’s style. I like the combination of loop and chain with the extra charm found in the stars. It gives a feel of daintiness and movement in a very simple piece. Beautifully designed.

This particular set is inexpensive, too- just under twenty dollars. If you do a search from Yes Style for “my little thing” and look through their earrings you will find them (and maybe some other fun unique accessories while you are there). I love these, they are so light and pretty.
Just wait till you see my other pair, though. It’s like right out of Alice In Wonderland, which is very ideal for me. Speak with you soon!
xx

Double The Lines For Glamorous Eyes
August 5, 2009

A color looks extra bold and brilliant when it is brushed up against a simple black line, double it and you have one strong and glamorous look. Add some sultry lashes and you have a lovely look!
I like to change my make-up look on a regular basis. Otherwise I get bored and it’s hard to get excited about things when you are feeling bored. So I’ll play with anything from classic to exotic. It varies from my mood, the season, and my outfits. If you’ve ever picked an outfit revolving around a shoe, I’m sure you’ve done the same with make up as well, lol.

I love this look, I invent it back into my style here and there. Sometimes I just forget until the idea strikes me again- you know? But I do love how elegant this look feels, and how incredibly simple it is to match with any outfit. It dresses up the casual wear and balances beautifully with the more formal styles. The flair finish of the blue eye shadow at the edges of the eye mean they have an attitude for anything!
A very simple look that takes very little time. Gotta love that. When I have my eyes dressed up in a bold fashion, I like to keep the rest of my face simple. Just a touch of blush or bronze on the cheeks- like a subtle sun kissed look, and then either nude or glossed lips.
It’s all warm and sunny outside today, so I’m going with the lip gloss look. A nice, simple shine. Maybe later in the evening if I want to be more dramatic in this look, I’ll wear a nude shade of lipstick. That will really make the eyes stand out.

A Fresh Floral Look for Summer From Nabi
August 4, 2009

Frills, color, print, a bow, and something I can spin and twirl in is a recipe for a must-have dress in my world. I just love it.
This is a brilliant floral print dress from Nabi- a designer with a unique style which can be found on yesstyle.com. This particular item reminds me of my Adela dress with a fresh pop. This dress can also be worn as a long skirt, the top portion would instead hug your hips and tie into a bow in the same manner; very adorable.

I am first and foremost a dress girl, and so this is how I wear mine. I bunch up the bottom with the ties it comes with- very similar in technique as the Adela, you can change this one as you please, too. Pretty fabulous!
Yellow is such a bright and cheerful color that it stood out for me, it’s also an excuse to bring out some of my bright yellow sandals. I love matching colors…. but not in an overwhelming sort of way- just a couple of pieces to really make a look pop. This dress does come in other shades, including black with the same floral print, or a rich magenta to hot pink shade. Both are quite tempting!

I love this style- it is so comfortable and versatile. Makes me want to bring out a giant floppy hat and take a stroll through the park. Maybe even have a picnic. It just has that feel, so light and feminine. Fun stuff!
Oh, here’s a great tip I wanted to share with you whenever you shop with Yes Style- look for their “In Stock” items, which are items they already have in their warehouse ready to be shipped, those are your best option for availability and speed of arrival.
You’ll see the “Available to ship within 1-2 days” listed within the details of the item. Other items can otherwise be up to 21 days (and will say so) and if you are like me, you want your new toys now! lol. It’s a great searching technique they shared with me and I wanted to pass along to you. There is even a section titled “In Stock” that you can search from which makes it even easier.
Their customer service is phenomenal, which says a lot in my opinion. Great people and great style, very fabulous!
