Where’s Your Playsuit? Noir Fashion Fun

October 29, 2009

I know what you’re thinking… a playsuit- really? Not my normal thing but something about this piece made me want to have it. It looks comfortable as can be, but still has that element of style that calls to me. And once I had it on, I knew it was meant to be. I love it.

With the cool weather creeping in, shorts are not going to cut it. But since I want to wear my new piece, I find a way to make it work. Tights are just the thing here, and they add a nice new pattern and feel to complete the look. What was once just a playful cute look as a new edge to it. Pattern tights with a simple solid outfit really make it “pop.”

These tights are a pair I found at Target some time ago, and have always been interesting to mix with outfits. They can be busy if anything else is competing, but something about the form of the playsuit works just lovely with them. I’ll wear a black solid shaped jacket as I go out and the chill picks up, but right now it’s sunny with that cool air that needs just a little extra.

The black playsuit is a find from YES STYLE. I think the bow design on the top is just darling, and not over the top. Just right and adds a nice shape to it all. Very feminine and very cute.

I love outfits like these- they are ready to go in an instant and you look fabulous without any effort what so ever. It just carries it for you. A little volume with texture, a solid and elegant color, and a touch of playfulness with the unique design. Definitely pretty and fabulous. mwah.

Shoe Lust: A Must Killer Leggings & Pumps Comination

October 22, 2009

So this morning there was a knock on my door, followed by a beautiful box from the delivery girl. Oh, you could smell the shoes in the air, just waiting to be played with.

I ordered them online and was anxious to see them in person, after all you never know until the moment of truth when you try them on. Well the the moment is now here and… holy freaking wow!

Serious fashion must, and possibly my new favorite shoe! The straps and angles are perfect, and I love how they had the straps at the top crossed over. Very clever and a technique that can be applied to any multi strap shoe. Haute.

When I was ordering the shoes, I had come across these leggings that in my head I thought would go perfectly. With all the fashion fuss about over the knee boots that are to the thighs and higher, I figured why not play the look with leggings?

And these are no ordinary leggings. I’m not particularly a legging girl, it just isn’t my thing. But these are “distressed” which give it a texture and unique look with the design. Not your ordinary pair of leggings. With this style blending into these heels- it is one killer haute dream look.

BTW, if you want a pair for yourself (the shoes are only $38 and the leggings $20) you can view their direct product order and description pages from the links below:

Cocoeve Multi Strap Ankle Pumps

Puffy Distressed Leggings

*I highly recommend just looking at what “Cocoeve” and “La Fresha” has to offer in shoes, some very pretty window shopping available there. I also have a new pair of shoes from La Fresha to share with you, so you might get a sneak peak by seeing their styles online.

The shoes also come in white in that same style. But if you search through the site you’ll find lots of similar styles with their own unique twist. I had a difficult time deciding, in fact after having received these shoes I’m going to place another order for the others. I wanted to make sure they were killer in person. They wear like a dream, too.

My gladiator heels I purchased from the site some time ago are still ones that attract attention anywhere I go, and look as new as the day I first got them. So I am confident with them, these new shoes just confirmed it for me. Yay… I heart shoes ;D

Alright, I’m out to go rock my new look. Ciao.

Accessory Love: A Perfect Match!

October 19, 2009

Don’t you love it when you unexpectedly come across an accessory that matches one of your own, in color and in texture? It can be a rare treat, but one that will last a long time within your fashion wardrobe.

Just the other day, yet again at Target, before heading to the checkout I decided to take a glimpse into their bags and scarfs. I wasn’t really expecting to purchase anything, but then there it was, this bag. Shimmering just subtly in the light, and in the exact same style as my Michael Kors shoes which I love so dearly.

I didn’t have to question it, just accepted that it was meant to be. Even more so when you consider the price- only ten dollars, ha. What a treat!

Now, the shoes had a much higher price on them, but that is part of the beauty of this find. It makes for a rich combination- style is determined by personal style and not by price. There is no one and only, but what makes you happy and what you feel confident wearing. Sometimes it is a treat to spurge on a luxury items, other times they find us at a bargain. It doesn’t matter- they are all fabulous finds.

When something matches this well, I like to play it carefully. Normally I’ll let these two items be the only things that match in my outfit, keeping the rest very simple. I think the matching stands out more without being overpowering. You want to compliment it. But every now and then I’ll get in a mood to go all out.

When I go all out- I’m looking for consistancy in color (kind of like all black) and keeping the focus on the shape and silhouette. Matching takes some strategy to get the look to work just right. And I think I’ll be having some serious fun with these two accessories together.

Black On Black Fashion Glamor

October 12, 2009

Black- the classic fashion color for an elegant look. It is complimenting and offers multiple style options- even with the same garments given to a number of people. Each person will wear it differently and give it a new feel. So with winter giving me another chance to play, I decided to go with the black on black layering technique.

Since it is cool, layers are required (especially with my clothes, lol). A long sleeve black shirt and black tights make the foundation- from those two form fitting items, I am able to play with shape and color if I so choose to. Since I am going with black on black, shape is what counts here.

I have this floppy, cozy, sweater-like dress that was just begging to be worn. But with it’s short length and short sleeves, it requires company if it wants to actually be warm. Perfect- just the ingredient I was looking for. Now for some fun with the accessories:

When it is cool outside, I love wearing my bracelets over my long sleeves. Something about it makes them pop, especially when it is silver on black. But even the black on black stands out, the shine from the gems are a subtle and elegant touch. And with a ring to match- beautiful!

Now, because I didn’t want to be completely in black and lost in the shadows… I wanted something to really just pop. What stands out against black more than white, and with yesterday’s theme still fresh in my mind, I knew just the shoes to do it.

I’ve posted about these shoes before, and yet almost had forgotten I had them! Ack, I know.. but they are brand new to me again since finding them, lol. You can see more photos of the shoes from my previous post here: click to view the shoes

Black on black glamor- I’m going to say it’s a fabulous do ;D

Winter In Black And White Fashion

October 11, 2009

Yesterday morning welcomed in some nice and wintery weather. Winter is not a common theme where I am as I prefer the warmer temperatures, but every now and then when the wind is cool it can be very refreshing. And it also makes it a great fashion opportunity.

It is so rarely cold where I am that I forget what exists in my winter wardrobe. Which makes it feel like shopping all over again directly out of my closet; there are always many fun and interesting surprises to be discovered!

Because winter is a season that as far as temperature is concerned I see very little of, this means layering my day to day clothing items and making them appear fit for winter. Right now it is cool enough to require some winter accessories and still look cute without having to be completely buried in them. It’s not as much fun to play with style when after all is said and done, you are completely covered in a giant coat. No, right now is the perfect weather for winter accessories.

I like to mix the old with the new- and in this particular outfit I have a very old item and a very new item. let’s start with the old- the boots!

These boots are so old I cannot even remember who makes them or how long I have had them for. I haven’t worn them in years, but found them in a box I had put away for later. They are still in great condition and feel the same as the day I had first put them on. The only thing I remember is that I had bought them at Nordstroms, but the designer and year escapes me. I know I had them while in High School, which makes it several years ago minimum.

They are a classic shape and a beautiful bone color, keeping them timeless and always in style. Love it.

Next is my new item, another gorgeous find from YES STYLE. I’m so excited for them, too- they just opened up a store in California! I’m hoping more are on the way, especially in my area. That would very much rock!

But in the mean time I am just as happy ordering online. It’s funny how all the fashion finds I discover with them are generally speaking very inexpensive, yet get more attention than anything else in my wardrobe- designer items included. They have that magical ‘thing’ that catches the attention of all those who admire fashion. I definitely feel like I’m in the spotlight with my finds. If you’ll recall my gladiator heels these are just the example of such a case! I found some killer hot new shoes I just put an order in for… let you know when they arrive ;)

With Mocha and La Fresha are two brand names to look into over at YES STYLE. I have my eyes on some pretty killer buckled up and laced up boots, as well as some very haute heels. Not a heel girl? They have plenty of cozy shoes that are cute as can be, too.

This dress meets two very nice points- stylish unique lines and the super cozy factor. It’s silky and lightweight which gives it a lot of movement when you walk. And it just falls beautifully into place. The sleeves are oversized to give the dress a bubble-like quality, adding volume to the silhouette as well as movement. The sleeves also give a great base to layer with.

If I went with some sheer white sleeves underneath, it would give this dress a warmer and more delicate look- something that could even be translated into spring. It is a great piece to mix and match with!

A “New” Old Fashioned Hat

October 6, 2009

I love the classics, the old fashioned timeless looks. A little black dress, strand of pearls, and subtle but elegant hat: beautiful. I just love it!

Of my collection of hats, only two are “new”, meaning they were actually bought in store and had been made recently. Most of my hats are vintage- very old, often times handmade, and very unique and delicate. Besides my big floppy beach hat- this one you see here is my latest “new” old fashioned hat find.

And of all places where did I find this? Target! Their fashion is constantly growing and in a beautiful direction at that.

(Oh- I also got a gorgeous Anna Sui dress at Target I must share with you! It’s a cute one.) Target is constantly impressing me with their style options, and their prices are very welcoming. You don’t have to spend a fortune to look like you do.

Their collections are so charming and really have a personality to them that you can connect with. The moment I saw this hat I knew I had to have it, no question about it. It is a true classic- the shape, with that subtle bow angled at the side, and with the right texture in fabric.

This is my new toy, and I am just looking for every reason to wear it. Why not? The day I bought it I was on my way to an event (perfect timing) at Santa Barbara Cigars for a night of scotch and cigars- love it! I had a Cain F cigar paired with some Macallan 15 year scotch, mix in some great conversation and it was a night to remember.

And this next photo (just below) is thanks to the incredible Tracy Tesmer of Tracy Tesmer Photography. She took this one with her phone! Yes, she’s that great… only her! Thank you, Tracy!

Fashion From Under The Sea

October 3, 2009

Fashion with a theme is a great focus to get the creativity flowing, and one simple little piece is all it takes. Take for instance my latest find from under the sea.. a “my pet octopus” ring from ModCloth. Look at those gorgeous lines- I couldn’t resist. Besides, it’s my new pet.

This particular style they offered in a bracelet and necklace, too. But when there is something as unique as this it only takes one to make the statement without going overboard. I knew for me it had to be the ring- just look how those legs dangle and gently cover over some of the other fingers. I love that, but of course- I love “big” and unique style.

I switch around which finger I wear this ring on, just because it’s shape plays so nicely on them all. It gives a different feel which also keeps things interesting.

This one is a beautiful find, and one of many I hope. I must admit when I play the animal theme I generally lean on the wild cat side of things, maybe the occasional bunny- but I haven’t really explored the depths of the sea.

I think maybe it is time for just a touch of under the sea fashion.
