Yay, My Ice Cream Isn’t Dyed Green!
November 30, 2009

I don’t know if this excites you as much as it does me, but I was absolutely delighted last night when I opened up a carton of Graeter’s Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream and discovered… dun dun dun- it wasn’t green!
This put such a smile on my face. I have only recently discovered Graeter’s, and their ingredient list is very welcoming. Based out of Cincinnati, OH, Graeter’s ice cream uses a French Pot process in making their ice cream since 1870. The flavors I have seen and tasted so far are incredible, from texture and consistency to natural and “real” taste. It reminds me of the ice cream I had in Nice, France which I fell in love with.
Truly a treat!

Graeter’s has just recently arrived to my local grocery store. The first time I saw them it was the Pumpkin Pie flavor that caught my eye. I was weary at first, but I do love pumpkin. After one glance at the ingredient list I knew it would be delicious. And the moment I got home I confirmed it was indeed heavenly. Wow.
It doesn’t last too long in our house, but honestly a few bites are very satisfying. Something about the natural ingredients are so rich that only a few bites is really all you need. I do love to indulge however, and this is my new favorite without question. I’m anxious to try their other flavors!

If you come across Graeter’s in a shop near you, I would highly recommend giving one a taste at home for your next indulgence. I’m so happy to have it available here now. Nom! And let me know when you do- I’d love to hear about the other flavors and your experiences! Speak with you soon, loves ![]()

Love In Film Squared, By Tracy Tesmer Photography
November 18, 2009

I’m so excited to share these fantastic photos with you from the always amazing Tracy Tesmer of www.tracytesmer.com! I love the look and feel of black and white film, and when she surprised me with these incredible photos- words escaped me. I love them.
So much so that I cannot keep them to myself. Working with Tracy is a great feeling, she brings so much energy and passion to a shoot that just being a part of it will bring you lasting memories. And in photos you can share with your loved ones.
Timothy and I had a fun session with her playing around with her newest toy, a Mamiya c330. I say new but this is an old style camera that is purely mechanical and manual, letting her show off her best work. A session with Tracy is much more than an addition to the photo album, it locks in time and memory to forever be looked upon with admiration.
Just check out her blog for viewings into her latest sessions- each one has a life of its own and always brings a smile to my face. All of her photos leave strong lasting, impressions. Thank you, Tracy, for having us play a part in them!

A Soft Gray Instead Of A Vivid Silver For Elegant Shoes?
November 15, 2009

I’ve been looking to replace my mirrored silver shoes for some time now (they died tragically on the rainy streets of south beach in the early morning hours, sad but true. They were survived by an adorable and frilly pink dress).
Silver shoes are a must- they go so beautifully with the pastel shades of spring and summer, and look so elegant in the winter with the black and white contrast of colors. It was when I came across these shoes from LA FRESHA on yesstyle.com that a new thought occurred to me- why not a soft suede gray instead of the obvious striking silver? These add a new dimension and feel to an elegant fashion.
The peep toe is a classic, and the lines are beautiful. But check out that platform with its unusual but striking angle- striking in design rather than color. Such a simple little twist but such drastic results.
Feminine lines with a striking silhouette- these shoes are a haute shoe lover’s must. I heart them so much! They come in a light pink and black as well, but I already have a pair of pink Givenchy suede heels and wanted something different. Something soft and feminine but daring in shape. Bingo.

Bigger Bows For An Adorable Updo
November 13, 2009

When it comes to accessories I love items that are bigger than life. Oversized sunglasses, handbags (to a certain limit of course), watches, rings, and bows. Something about the contrast appeals to me, and I love a challenge when incorporating them into my wardrobe.
The instant I saw this bow I knew it was mine- how I would wear it I did not know.
So this morning when I was putting my hair into a side swept updo, something felt missing. There was a bit more space than I had intended on having, and the updo seemed to tight and clean. Not neccessarily a bad thing, just not the look I was going for. Enter the bow. What a perfect finish- it is whimsical, adorable, black and elegant. The cute factor with the heart, designs, and enormous size fit in perfectly. I love it.

One side is very smooth and clear while the other is a collection of soft textures wraped in place by the giant bow. The silhouette it creates is a unique one with lots of character. I love the angles and feminine cute feel that comes from it.
It’s hard not to feel adorable when you have a bow this big in your hair. Even though one side is light and clear and the other is heavy and textured, the balance remains as each side gives a glimpse into the other. It plays of each other just right creating a uniformed look.
I think I’ll be incorporating this ridiculously large bow into more of my updos, giving elegance a playful and cute twist.

A Night At The Circus: Fashion Show
November 9, 2009
Last night was an amazing night with a style show fit for the circus! Stylists from Visible Changes competed in a circus themed hair fashion show for awards and lovely prizes. Everything was to be completed by each team on their own- from concept, application, styling, makeup, and even costume. Over 100 teams were competing and the competition was intense.
My team of stylists, Mel and Bel, are absolutely amazing. They began working on this project far in advance, looking over all the details until the results met their goals completely. They even brought the sewing kit out to design a unique and pretty costume to compliment the hair for a complete and vivid look.
Texture, color, and incredible talent with imagination combined to get them to third place last night. I was honored to be a part of the team and rock the fantastic look they gave me. The circus character I portrayed was of a tight rope balancing girl, complete with rope all throughout my hair. Love it!

How Do You Wear Your Stripes?
November 3, 2009

Stripes can be tricky to wear as they can make a very bold statement. They can also very quickly go overboard! It is important to keep your colors and patterns in balance so that they compliment your overall look rather than make you look like the battlefield.
This is a cute dress from dodostyle that has a connected striped long sleeved top. It is all one complete piece- and well thought out at that. The sleeves have a slight bell shape at the end with some extra length to really add a nice balancing contrast. Horizontal stripes can make things appear wider, so the extra length goes a long way here to keep that from occurring. Same is true of the volume at the end, that shape adds a very pleasing contrast.
The shoes in this case are a subtle touch to balance out the top with the bottom. I normally don’t think of these straps as stripes, but when put into perspective with a piece like this, it works together very nicely.

The solid color of the black looks beautiful and whimsical against the vivid stripes. The shape of the black portion of this dress is very clean and simple with feminine lines. The bottom bubbles out in the same manner of the sleeves, making them look like they belong. It adds another dynamic into the volume- from fitted to bubbled, in a very complimentary style.
And did I mention cozy? I love sleeves that are longer than me, something about them makes me feel like a child all cuddled up. All of my dresses from Dodostyle are cozy like that. Not necessarily from the sleeves, but from the material. They all have very nice fits and make me feel like I’m wrapped in a blanket. Also, their styles are incredibly adorable! Yet another beauty from YES STYLE, every item I have ordered from them demands attention anywhere I go. It is how I wear my style, and in this piece, my stripes.

Sneak Peak Into Hair Tinsel
November 2, 2009

What in the world is hair tinsel? When my stylist called me up I certainly had never heard of it before and didn’t know what to think exactly either. But his excitement was contagious and my curiosity is like that of a cat. It was on!
Yes, hair tinsel- not crinkly, chunky, or noisy like the Christmas tree kind, but sleek and soft very much like a natural hair strand. Only with extreme shine and sparkle. This is just a sneak peak- I’ll release the video with all the details soon. I would much prefer to have my stylist, Clemente Javier of www.clementejavier.com, do the explaining as he is the expert. I just see shiny pretty things in my hair and know that I am happy.
Know that these pictures do no justice. Seriously, no justice what-so-ever. But in a way that is a good thing because it shows how mysterious they can be. Also, something about shine and glitter in my camera does not pick up. But it is pretty memorizing in the video.
It is pretty subtle- nothing obnoxious or foolish. It’s adorable and playful. The way Clemente placed them in my hair it makes my hair glitter ever so subtly in certain lights- think of a crystallized piece of jewelry in a restaurant lighting- just gorgeous. Ha, ha, I love it.
It blends into the hair beautifully, but you will have to wait until the video is released here soon to really get a true glimpse! It’s pretty fabulous, so keep checking in for it.

It blends in nicely, some of these photos may look just slightly harsh and that is becasue I was forcing it onto the camera so you could at lease see something, ha. Just wait until the video is complete, I know I am excited to present it to you once it is!
Hair tinsel… stay tuned!
