Another Reason To Love Armani In 09

March 6, 2009

Sophisticated, sultry, and elegant- Armani’s name carries a certain grace I have always adored. And no matter the design, the fabric is always heavenly against the skin and fitted wonderfully.

I am always anxious to see the new designs, and leading London’s personal stylist, Gabrielle Teare, never disappoints to keep me informed on the latest. I am delighted to have these images from her as well.

Now, normally I am not a particular fan of women’s business coats or jackets. Something about them can be so ill-fitted and unflattering to a women’s body. They generally strike me as rigid and uncomfortable. But this jacket with its one well placed button and sharp low drop neckline intrigues me and even has me wanting one for myself.

I love how it hugs the figure while still being just lose enough with a flow in movement. It is all about the lines, and when you pair up a matching hat, handbag, and gloves the look is simply heavenly!

Personally, I would wear the jacket with a well formed pencil skirt- I think it would flow so nicely and keep to the feminine form. But the colors here are fabulous.

Who doesn’t love an outfit that just melts with sparkles? Again, Armani has me rethinking looks I normally wouldn’t care for myself. Those who know me know that I am always in a dress in heels- quite seriously always. But, this look seems like fabulous fun. It works, and works well. The hint of nude kept elegant and the insanely detailed and gorgeous collar that melts into the ensemble quite literaly is stunning. The lines and flow of movement is beautiful. Definitely would make for a grand cocktail party, gloves included naturally.

So, wow- two looks with generally a masculine feel still keeps its femininity. I love that. It is playfully modern with a bit of that old glamour feel at the same time. I am inspired and definitely have some ideas running through my mind.

Alexander McQueen And Target Love

January 20, 2009

A man of design genius, the name alone makes my heart anxious. I adore the designs, the creativity, the feminine fantasies concocted by Alexander McQueen. Absolutely beautiful and heavenly.

So when I heard that he is to participate with a collection for the International line at TARGET, you can imagine my excitement- wow!

I don’t know if I can handle waiting, though I suppose I do not have the choice. Simply, I am pleased to know I will have a choice to purchase his designs and the oh so wonderful TARGET store! Yet another reason to love that place.

I haven’t seen all of the designs for this venture just yet, though I do believe a skinny jean is involved- yum, I know whatever he will do will be fantastic and fun. I am looking for some beautiful sleeves and dreamy dresses. In the mean time I felt it appropriate to bask in some of his other more luxurious designs.

Old Hollwood Love With A Modern Look

December 20, 2008

The glamorous and sophisticated looks of old hollywood’s silver screen movies have a place in my heart that I love more and more as time goes by. Beautiful lines and opulent fabrics- something of fashion I look for each and every day even now.

I have just been introduced to designer Kirsty Doyle- from London’s leading personal stylist Gabrielle Tear; with such exceptional taste I am always anxious to hear from her the latest gems of the UK. I looked into Kirsty’s collections- the first one entitled “Hollywood Rose” and I knew I would love her. Glamorous looks with a real inspiration of the true beauties of the 1930′s.

This one strap dress looks both sophisticated and yet youthful and playful. Great texture and shape that hints the feminine figure while still allowing movement and volume in the fabric. Great shape- and would make for such a delightful party dress! I would adore wearing this at an elegant bar or cocktail party. I think it would look great with a side swept up do.

She has a luxurious lingerie collection that is divine as well. Take a look at this sumptuous peep hole kimono- so glamorous!

Add a black skirt to this and it would make a decadent gown.

I love it as it is, though- how adorable would this be lounging around the house? Would look pretty glamorous in the bedroom.

I must say there is something so luxurious as wearing an incredibly glamorous garment- even if it is lingerie, and just reading a book by yourself in your home.

I’m feeling inspired. Much love. xx

Gorgeous Yellow & Floral Versace Dress

December 17, 2008

Not a usual name I report on, but every now and then I must admit versace will catch my attention and surprise me. As is the case here with this stunning dress.

I love the floral pattern and how it breaks through the silhouette, which I do love the shape and volume of- especially with the length that shows the legs and the strapless portion that reveals the shoulders. This one has really caught my eye!

The color is perfect too, I adore the bright yellow; so happy and brilliant. It really makes the whole thing go to another level. I am adding this one to my wish list- simply gorgeous!

Old Fashioned Glamour Awakens

September 21, 2008

Giorgio Armani defines classic elegance and beauty so wonderfully, and I am finding much inspiration from these looks and designs. It is very much old hollywood returned with a splash of fresh color and extra feminine softness.

The lines drop low and the fabric melts to the ground, looking as though it actually a part of the body itself. It just looks so lovely, and knowing Armani it definitely is. The photo here is from Francois Guillot, it realy captures the glamorous line well I think. Love the earings, too.

It reveals the feminine form beautifully and the colors are perfect. The hair is cute and i see what they are going for (great for the runway) but I don’t know I would do it now. Maybe keep the side swept but still with medium to long hair to blend into. Still, cute but feels kind of messy or off.

This one I like much better, hair wise at least. It looks a little fuller and connects more around (not just all the hair on the side, but it connects around the back, too, more complete). I will have to play around with it and see what I can create.

Mmm, pretty fashion- I love it. I love to see more of it and it delights me to see it on the runway. Glamorous!

Christian Dior, My Love- Thank You!

August 5, 2008

When I think of my style I describe myself as “Classic with a Modern Twist,” I am quite traditional and yet at the same time adore the playful (and at times limit pushing) creations from the new designers.

Looking through the Fall 2008 Christian Dior Collection, I feel very at home with a warm and happy heart. I love it, it is simply beautiful and exactly what I love in fashion. It is everything I love of the past created NOW. Feminine, sophisticated, soft and daring at the same time… the colors are exquisite and the hats/scarves just complete the look perfectly. The silhouette is something I strive for in my outfits, I love to play with volume and keep the cinched waist at the same time. I love my legs and so I love the length of the garments with the sheer touch- covered but still flirts and reveals. Its dainty, rich, and bold all together.

Another thing I strive for is the matching shoes- I have a vast collection and am quite proud when I am able to find a shoe that matches my dress exactly. It can be an expensive habit, and when in doubt silver works beautifully with pastels- but color is so brilliantly delightful.

For the entire collection, style.com will have it available for you. It is definitely worth a look- if only for inspiration.

For too long it seems that to be daring is to dress masculine- so much so that now to be daring is to dress ultra (or even slightly) feminine and bring back the pearls, the gloves, the hats, the scarves, and all the other little things. I know I will be.

Glamorous & Short And Getting Shorter

June 23, 2008

Sexy, casual, dressy, playful, or elegant, shorts are no longer just for the sporty. With lengths only getting shorter, they have managed to keep their appeal fresh and sophisticated.

I’ve grown quite fond of them living where it is constantly hot, and love the versatility of them. Nice shorts with a glamorously simple silk top and I can easily work my way from day to evening. Great for lunch and great for the early cocktail hours.

The shorts themselves have so many variations from the very high to very low waist, big buckle belts or none at all. Material options go even deeper and can further enhance th elegance or playfulness you are going for.

Embrace them and renew them- there is no reason for them to be a boring afterthought.

Above all, they are comfortable and easy. Being beautiful has never been so simple.

Yves Saint Laurent A Loving Memory And Admiration

June 2, 2008

An icon to forever be remembered and cherished among the highest names of couture, we say farewell to the master in his passing late Sunday evening in Paris.

Yves Henri Donat Mathieu Saint Laurent; a child determined by desire and admiration and who became a legend in the fashion world admired and respected by all. With Christian Dior as his mentor, his designs rose to the highest levels truly representing the couture name and heart.

He forever set the trends for women of fashion everywhere, and was ready in a time when women were just receiving such freedoms. And unlike any other designer of his time, Yves Saint Laurent’s designs held versatility and range. Never limiting himself to one key note style- he was constantly moving forward with brilliant ideas.

His retirement in 2002 to the couture world held quite the farewell, and now we say goodbye with much love and remembrance.

“To be beautiful, all a woman needs is a black pullover and a black skirt and to be arm in arm with a man she loves.”

-Yves Saint Laurent

Noir Glamour Of A Classic

May 26, 2008

There is no arguing the dark elegance and beautiful simplicity of the little black dress- as little or extravagant as it may be. On its own or with well thought out accessories it is forever the statement piece of beauty.

It is the one thing that every girl in a room could wear and think nothing of it- as everyone wears their own quite differently. How you own your dress shows in how you carry yourself and how you dress it, hair and make up included.

Sure in the spring it becomes more of the little white dress in popularity, but sultriness and simple elegance of a black gown always attracts the eye, especially in the evenings of any season.

Strong and bold, no matter how simple it may be- don’t ever let your favorite black dress be forgotten. Find or create an occasion of your own to wear it or make it special, even if it means treating yourself to a drink at a pretty bar or restaurant. Invite some friends, host a party, or create a new tradition.

You’ll love preparing for it and love even more living in it.
