Every now and then I get inspired to bring items from my closet together and form an outfit that is “out of the norm” from my usual style or character. I like to keep people guessing and challenge myself to a new style at the same time.

“Normally” I would wear this beautiful floral frilly dress with some chic nude heels, keep my make up subtle with a soft pink lip, and be done with it. But then I remembered my bright red boots from KVOLL and the urge struck me- boom! The boots remind me of when I was a little girl, but now with a grown up look. The color cannot be ignored and it adds an interesting twist to the look. I wanted to keep the colors bright and playful, so I added a hot pink lip color  with some slightly messy curly hair.

What I like about this is that the dress on its own has soft colors, but when placed with the red boots suddenly those subtle pinks and reds really pop. Even the light blue becomes more brilliant in contrast.

Part of fashion, especially when you want to challenge yourself, is bringing together items that individually don’t make sense to mix… but then as a complete look give you that editorial fashion edge. I like the slightly “off” look that makes sense when combined with your unique personality.

Have you challenged yourself? Get inspired and find something unique and unexpected from your wardrobe. Start with a classic piece as the structure then mix, match, mismatch, and go at it! It doesn’t take much to create a look with a bright and bold statement.

One of my latest fashion finds is full of zipper envy. The detail of design with hints of mesh and sheer glittering material is beautiful. I’ve seen zipper creep into interesting and stylish designs with shoes and pockets, but nothing like this one. Take a look at this rosette collar design with zipper detail from Tian Mu.

Tian Mu has been a name I find myself constantly check in for on YESSTYLE. Everything I have gotten from them so far has been fabulous, and I am eager to see their new and interesting designs. One of their newest items I have my eye on is this gorgeous lace cape (you know I love lace- so elegant with so much room to play):

I am in love with the concept. The ruffles at the bottom are glamorous and flirty. How great would this be going out for cocktails or a nice dinner? It may not keep you warm, but it will keep you looking fabulous.

In the mean time I am enjoying my zipper envy fashion. I think the dress looks great on its own, a bit more dressed up with tights, or dressed down with some skinny jeans. You don’t really need too many accessories with a piece like this, maybe just a giant ring for fun. I wouldn’t put a necklace on though as it could be too busy. The collar states enough. Mesh and sheer fabrics are making a presence- are you finding them in your wardrobe for this fall and winter?

Mmmm, I do love my cocktails- and the other night we had a real treat with some classic and beautiful cocktails at Anvil. These are beauties I look forward to having again soon.

With a place like this, I like to let the bartender select my drinks for me. This is their skill and I want them to have fun with it- I am the same way with my chef’s and their food. I am here to enjoy their talent with good tastes. Sebastian, our bartender we seek out by request, made some fantastic selections for me!

For instance, the Jack Rose- a classic cocktail of the 1920′s and 1930′s. What a lovely cocktail! Made with Applejack, Grenadine and Lemon juice, this may be a favorite of mine. It is so lovely with the right balance of flavor and texture. Enjoying it out of a vintage glass only adds more of the charm.

Another lovely drink from that same era would be The Last Word- love the name and the cocktail (pictured below). What a delicious beverage with a nice little hint of spice in the finish. I love the tartness of citrus, especially when it has the right balance, and a little spice can blend beautifully.

The Last Word consists of Gin, Lime Juice, Green Chartreuse, and Maraschino Liqueur- nom! Very refreshing, crisp, and delicious. A lovely way to begin an evening- the flavors just blend and melt so beautifully in your mouth.

This is one I could see myself having quite reguarly, it is perfect for any mood or event. I keep thinking about it, delicious!

Here we have the Smitten cocktail, which I had mentioned previously but had forgotten to take a photo of. I was prepared this time and captured this refreshing drink. I think this one would be so perfect by the pool on a warm day- the mint in this cocktail is delightful without being overpowering at all.

This cocktail consists of Gin, Campari, Lemon, and Mint. And it tastes as pretty as it looks.

And the final act was a beautiful one that tastes just as heavenly and dreamy as it looks- The Vanishing Act! Wow, this one is so lovely and rich in texture- yet light and welcoming, what a fantastic way to finish the evening.

Now, unfortunately with this one- I was not by it when it was made and don’t know of what it all consists of. The egg whites and bitters is all I can tell you- but I do plan on having this gem again next time I visit and returning home with the ingredients. So lovely!
