Vintage With A Walk On The Wild Side
April 28, 2009

So my morning post quickly turned into an afternoon post once I realized my camera was completely dead and needed to be charged! But that’s okay, I am ready now and want to begin with a wooden necklace I found in a vintage shop while in Seattle that definitely walks on the wild side.
I found so many unique treasures on this trip, it is insane!

Do you have a thing for shattered mixed up pieces on a necklace? I know I do, though normally I must admit it tends to be along the lines of pieces of shells, it never crossed my mind to seek out a wooden alternative.
I love everything about this necklace- from the dark to medium and light wood shades, to the texture, to the bold animals resting on either side. It is fabulous!
And a necklace like this can change up an outfit completely, too- it is a statement piece. An otherwise casual and simple outfit really pops with an accessory such as this one. It is very unique and very bold- I adore it.

Animals in my accessories is something I am always looking for, but can be sometimes difficult to do without looking akward or just strange- this one does the look very well while being wild but still having that classy and sophisticated feel.
Wooden jewelry is wonderful for experimenting with “wild” themes since it has such a natural base to work with. A pattern on a wooden bracelet somehow looks much more elegant than the same pattern on a plastic one.
This one is a new favorite of mine, it’s just the balance of big and chunky yet still sophisticated that I love.
Kobe Burger, Fois Gras, & Trufles I Love You
January 23, 2009

Mmmmm.. so heavenly! One of my favorite things to indulge upon is a kobe burger topped off with fois gras and truffles!
Be still my heart- the look of it alone is beautiful. The photo above is from the Wall Street Burger Shoppe in New York, and it looks divine.
In Miami, I would always go to Prime 112 to satisfy my cravings (oh, also the fries are made in truffle oil). They also made my beloved Lychee Martinis there, what else would I need.
Actually, at Prime 112 they also have a Kobe hot dog, its a big one, too. Kinda awkward for some, haha. Its fun to watch the reaction when someone sees it for the first time. Definitely something to behold. If you go and want to simply enjoy a meal, I would recommend lunch time. Its much more pleasant if you aren’t trying to do the whole “just to be seen” sort of thing. Gets overrated and crowded wherever you are under those circumstances. But I have always found lunch to be perfect there. (That or an extremely late dinner is nice too).
Nom Nom- Yum. Anyway, wherever you are I would recommend hunting one down, it is well worth it. If you travel make sure to indulge in one along the way.

Yes, I Know My Sunglasses Are Big, Thank You
August 21, 2008

Why, yes… I did know my sunglasses are bigger than my head- thank you! Some people are such comedians. I actually do get asked that from time to time- if I am aware of the size of my sunglasses to the ratio of my head. And I do.

I love Oliver Peoples, of all my sunglasses I cannot help but keep coming back to these. Such a classic style with a modern twist- the thing I look for most in fashion. This pair in particular is the ‘Heroine’ from Oliver Peoples-l o v e them!
I will be wearing these for quite some time as well. Less a trend and more a classic. It is funny how things blow up overnight. I’ll never forget shopping in Cannes for the biggest watch I could find- and covered in crystals at that. Something I concocted in my mind and had to have. It was impossible to find, and once I discovered it I was ever so pleased with it. Then- some time after returning to the states- it was everywhere and all that *could* be found. Made it a bit less desirable and more of a trend. I still had my fun with it though. The sunglasses blew up quite the same way.
Oh well, more options and designs, no? I am always great with that. It is all in how you wear it anyway. This year I am feeling more traditional classic designs in bold new colors. Whether or not its the next thing to blow up, I will be looking for it. More to come.

Sunglasses with a Statement Big and Bold
May 5, 2008
Oliver Peoples. The name alone comes with a statement and the design follows. Classic beauty with the wow gorgeous factor-talk about being noticed. Out of all my sunglasses my heroine in beige Oliver People’s have that old Hollywood glamorous feel that cannot be ignored- I wear them more than any other pair and I have quite a few. They go with anything- from the most casual to the most formal- I love it.
Where to go from there? My next fun loving pair will be the Dior Sunglasses that have the pull out ear wrap around. They are beautiful with very distinct lines that appeal to me. They aren’t for everyone- they can swallow your entire face. Proportions are key and must be kept in check, the face is no different.
With an oval face shape you are pretty safe with any style. Always try them on before purchasing. How they look on the shelf and how they look and most importantly feel on- can change drastically.
Have fun and have as many pairs as you like in as many shapes and colors as you like. Don’t limit yourself.
Who says a little eye protection cannot be pretty? Not to mention make you feel pretty too- now that’s gorgeous.
