Dreams Of Golden Flowers
March 31, 2010

When it comes to accessories, a floral theme is a favorite of mine. Whether done with brilliant colors or kept simple with one tone, but done extravagantly, you can be certain I will be there.
This particular necklace was a lovely find from one of those shops that feels like a warehouse when you walk in. You know the kind, they have an overwhelming selection with the same item in multiple colors and a price point you can hardly walk away from.
But this one was on its own and hidden away as if forgotten. It may have been an inexpensive find, but that doesn’t keep it from being fabulous. I love mixing my styles, from designer items to whatever the world brings. Some of my most unique accessories have been one dollar items found in antique shops. You never know where style will find you.
What I love about this one is how large it is and how lovely the flowers are arranged. Even the giant golden links add a bit of character. The matching earrings are a pure happy bonus!

You have the large golden petals holding little gems keeping the design in full. It just feels right. Because the necklace is such a statement piece, I like to wear it with something simple and black. A classic little black dress worn with these accessories makes you ready for anything. Simply beautiful.

My cat, Aveline, seems to approve, too- lol. She had to sneak herself in. I’ve purchased several new (and stunning) shoes from YESSTYLE which I will be showing you in the next few days, and she has been inspecting them thoroughly. She’s a shoe kitty, but who could blame her. I’ll update you with the details and photos here soon!
What are some of your favorite inexpensive and unexpected finds for accessories? I would love to hear your finds as well!

Dreaming Of Silver Links
January 31, 2010

There is something dreamy about a bunch of silver strands and links elegantly combined, especially when it comes to necklaces. My normal accomplishment of such a look is by cleverly combining necklaces of various lentgths together, making sure the end result is elegant and bold but never a mess. Every now and then you find a piece that on it’s own accomplishes the look beautifully. This piece from Truffles Co. is just on case!
The combination of links and strands with a decorated piece bringing the links together, gently hanging down at an angle depending on how it is worn, works beautifully.

The miss match of link sizes with collected strands and a decorative piece with beads makes for a unique and fashionable look. Worn alone is fantastic, but it also gives you the opportunity to mix another piece into this already elaborate setup. The entire piece is designed quite long, in fact it is long enough to be worn as a belt (it is not unusual for me to find link styled belts and wear them as a necklace, lol).
The way I like to wear this style is by having half of the necklace show in the front, and have the other half decorate the back. This works great with dresses or tops that scoop in the front and the back. It can really dress up the look.

I like to wear it where half of each design is showing for a different kind of look. You could certainly wear it where each uniformed style shows from one view- one in the front and one in the back, keeping the decoration resting on the shoulder. But I like the dynamic of the mix.
Another possibility I am playing with is mixing it up as a choker or or very elaborate bracelet. With the length and change of styles there are many opportunities to explore.
I love playing around with shapes and textures, especially when they are in the same color scheme. Elaborate earrings are another fun area you see the trend in, most commonly with chandelier type earrings. I like earrings that are unique and miss matched; having the same theme so you can tell they belong together. When earrings resemble each other but have different lengths, I think that, too, is a fun style with a lot of opportunities. Take for instance this set that also plays into the links feel. This find is another item from Truffles Co. available on yesstyle.com.

Anyone can miss match a pair of earrings, but getting them to feel like a part of the same set is where it gets interesting. They either have to have been designed that way or play as a part of a theme. They have to look like they belong.
This piece from yesstyle.com does that well. You have all the same elements presented only slightly different, giving it a very unique and bold look. I love it. And it has the links and strands that I have been craving in my fashion.
What fashion cravings have you been having?

Fit-To-Kill Loving A White Rabbit Accessory
August 17, 2009

With a name like “fit-to-kill” how can you not instantly fall in love? The theme of this design is very Alice in Wonderland which strikes a lot of points from me- I’ll admit I’m mad about such styles.
This post may be a little bit mean since it turns out I was the lucky one to order the very last set of these (yes, it’s too late now) but I still love them enough to share the style idea with you. Something about miss matched earrings appeals to me. A theme keeps them together, almost like a story, but the fact that they are different is beautiful.
With this set- one side is a pretty white rabbit while the other holds dainty flowers.

In case you couldn’t tell from my hat and updo, I’m feeling especially girlie this afternoon. I have my days where I go all out for no other reason than just going all out. I love it.
The earrings are very much like from a fairy tale, also bonus points. There was another pair that I think may be available still that I had my eye on- it is a four piece set so you can mix and match to your pleasing. The signature piece (what would be like the bunny in this set) is a deer, and it comes with a pearl, mushroom, or butterfly to pair with on the other side. I’m still considering it- here’s their sneak peak from the site:

They even have an actual fairy tale set directly out of Cinderella- with choices of a crown, crystal, glass shoe, and carriage to choose from. Very adorable.
It is all very unique and makes a feminine, but darling statement. Pretty fabulous! You can look for more items from Fit-To-Kill by searching on Yes Style.

Fashion With A Little Birdie On Each Ear
August 16, 2009

I’ve been shopping and lately I’ve had an eye for earrings. I generally like to play with something elegant and different- something with its own character and story that dances between feminine sophistication and the playful imagination of childhood. I’ve found two such sets in the past couple days, here is the first set.

These earrings are from Yes Style, and last I checked still available for sale on their site. The other pair of earrings I’ll be sharing with you tomorrow sold out the moment I purchased them- I feel lucky to have gotten the last pair, they are darling!
Back to these earrings, though. Timothy calls them my “twitter” earrings, but to me they remind me of designer Alex Monroe’s style. I like the combination of loop and chain with the extra charm found in the stars. It gives a feel of daintiness and movement in a very simple piece. Beautifully designed.

This particular set is inexpensive, too- just under twenty dollars. If you do a search from Yes Style for “my little thing” and look through their earrings you will find them (and maybe some other fun unique accessories while you are there). I love these, they are so light and pretty.
Just wait till you see my other pair, though. It’s like right out of Alice In Wonderland, which is very ideal for me. Speak with you soon!
xx

Video: A Cute And Glamorous Look For A Night Of Events
July 18, 2009
This week has been very eventful, from seeing my family to meeting great new friends and even to being invited to some spectacular opportunities- but more on that last one later!
There were two cigar events scheduled yesterday, and this video is from right before I left to attend them. The first event was so great-ran into unexpected friends and it turned out to be an evening to remember. I didn’t make it to the second event, but instead chose to have dinner with these incredibly great people.
Dinner and delicious wines I might say- an evening of cigars followed by fois gras, boudin noir, cheese, venison in blackberry sauce, sweetbreads, and poached pears, not to mention the great conversation. This is my ideal kind of night!
And so I like to dress for such occasions, even before they happen. I am always ready for anything and keep that attitude in mind. I was feeling a pink, black, and pearl theme in my wardrobe and ended up with a pretty unique and feminine look. Hope you enjoy- speak with you soon!
A Bow With A Bow To Match
February 4, 2009
Buy the accessory and the dress will appear- at least that is what happened in this case! I purchased these cute bow earrings not all that long ago, and sure enough this dress finds me- what a perfect match, I love it and couldn’t help myself.
The earrings alone were quite fun, but this darling dress paired up with them I find to be simply adorable. It is hard not to feel that way when you have that many bows on you.
It is something slightly different, and not too much. I think it comes together nicely without being overwhelming. Any more bows and it would most likely cross that line- but I am good with where I am here.
The dress on its own is very pretty and comfortable as well- I love such a combination.
It is slightly fitted at the top and then flows down gently and slightly loose- which moves nicely when you walk.
The pattern is quite simple, and very pretty with large pearl buttons, some white lace down the center, and then the two black bows at the beginning of the straps. Absolutely darling.

All Wrapped Up In A Christmas Dress
December 25, 2008
Complete with a giant bow, I might add. It is officially Christmas morning and I am inspired to dress for the occasion. No, not in a santa suit, although the material of this dress may fit the part. I feel like dressing bright in red and with a bow. This dress is perfect.
I may even match up my bow earrings with this one- not sure just yet. Still playing around and just getting ready as I must leave to see my family soon. I love seeing my family, we are loads of fun.
So this dress is one I discovered from a Japanese shop called Nonno, and first struck me as an adorable anime sort of dress I just had to have. Didn’t quite know when or for what occasion I would wear it for, only that I would and that I must have it for my own. Sure enough Christmas arrives and I remember the dress- how perfect! And it is very comfortable as well, nice little bonus.

Am still playing around with my hair- may do a bow updo or something of the sort like I have done here on a previous post. There is plenty of room for play here. I may have to update later- with it being Christmas I don’t know what time I will have so I wanted to speak with you first just in case!
Even Christmas eve was quite busy for me, much of it unexpected but very welcomed and lovely. Our minute out to pick up something at the store turned into lunch with friends, shopping downtown for wine, vodka, champagne, beer, and chocolates, to spending time at a bar with friends. Wow- worked out lovely and had such a grand time.

I even had a Christmas Eve dress picked out to enjoy the day even more. Also bright and red with cute little balls dancing from a string in the front (and one on top of the hood in the back). I love this little sweater dress, so cozy and so cute.
Color- bright and bold! Such a brilliant red and perfectly festive for the holiday. Alright loves- am off to finish getting ready and then see my family. I wish you all a wonderfully Merry Christmas!

Things That Are Girly Like Candy & A Bow
December 13, 2008
I’m feeling a bit girly today, and looking through some of my accessories I found some fun inspiring pieces. One is a bow and the other looks like candy with a bow. Love it.
My friends always threaten to eat this one- if only they could. I love the color and style- it is very pretty and very girly in a playful sort of way. It looks like giant gum drops or something- I’m not sure but it looks delicious, ha.
The pink bow just adds extra charm I think. Quite lovely and it is something I do enjoy wearing.
And speaking of bows, here is a pair of adorable bow earings. The little beads that hang from the bow really add that special touch. I found these at a little Japanese shop (they had a red version available as well) and couldn’t resist them. They are on a black small loop so the bow hangs just below the ear. Quite the cute little accessory.
Hmm, looking at it the little beeds look like some sort of candy treat as well. A bit more subtle but still delicious in style.

Glamour of Vintage Earrings
December 6, 2008

One of the things I love about vintage is you really feel each piece has its own story. You get a sense that it has seen the world and been a part of so many special events, enriching the lives of its owners, and that now it is your turn to contribute.
It is one of a kind and very special. These earrings I have recently come upon absolutely have this factor.
There is something to be said of jewelry, or any item really, that has a story and sense of empowerment; it is like when you are a child and you are wearing your mother’s jewelry. It doesn’t matter what age you are, it is still something you treasure and can still do to empower your day even more. I dare you not to smile when you wear something of such significance to you.
Bring something out from a treasured past memory- or find something someone has left behind to be moved on to new memories. It is much more than a fashion statement.
