Double The Lines For Glamorous Eyes
August 5, 2009

A color looks extra bold and brilliant when it is brushed up against a simple black line, double it and you have one strong and glamorous look. Add some sultry lashes and you have a lovely look!
I like to change my make-up look on a regular basis. Otherwise I get bored and it’s hard to get excited about things when you are feeling bored. So I’ll play with anything from classic to exotic. It varies from my mood, the season, and my outfits. If you’ve ever picked an outfit revolving around a shoe, I’m sure you’ve done the same with make up as well, lol.

I love this look, I invent it back into my style here and there. Sometimes I just forget until the idea strikes me again- you know? But I do love how elegant this look feels, and how incredibly simple it is to match with any outfit. It dresses up the casual wear and balances beautifully with the more formal styles. The flair finish of the blue eye shadow at the edges of the eye mean they have an attitude for anything!
A very simple look that takes very little time. Gotta love that. When I have my eyes dressed up in a bold fashion, I like to keep the rest of my face simple. Just a touch of blush or bronze on the cheeks- like a subtle sun kissed look, and then either nude or glossed lips.
It’s all warm and sunny outside today, so I’m going with the lip gloss look. A nice, simple shine. Maybe later in the evening if I want to be more dramatic in this look, I’ll wear a nude shade of lipstick. That will really make the eyes stand out.

Cigars, Fashion, & Style- But Of Course!
June 28, 2009
I love cigars, and when something unique like this limited edition box from La Flor Dominicana comes up- I am very excited! With art design by Ruben Toledo for the bands and cigar box, this duo is a magnificent piece worth looking into.
I was enjoying a cigar at my favorite cigar shop when the owner, Kenny, came up to me and showed me this beautiful box of cigars. It is the El Museo Limited Edition Box and can only be found from elite tobacconists and select department shops. Only 2000 boxes are to be produced with a retail price of $600, so once they’ve sold out that will be the end of this particular cigar’s production- and the box will remain a collectors piece forever.
Kenny has this lovely box available in his shop, and it is beautiful to look at and tempting to taste- but for the occasion it was created for, it is to be sold as a complete set with all profits donated to El Museo del Barrio.

La Flor Dominicana produce world class cigars of which I am very fond of. And to see a fine cigar paired up with a beautiful design for a great cause is grand. I must say, I would love to indulge in one- it is oh so tempting to discover the flavors of this unique cigar.
The designer, Ruben Toledo, was born in Havana, Cuba in 1961. He is a painter, sculptor and illustrator. His wife, a fashion designer, Isabel Toledo was also drawn to the project. For the two of them it was a project of personal meaning from their own history, and one they were very happy to be a part of.
So there you have it, loves- cigars, fashion, and style!

For more information about this project or the box design, visit Cigar Aficionado or El Museo.
Sneak Peak Into Style:
June 2, 2009
Alright, I normally wouldn’t do this but I am so excited I cannot help it! I was doing some shopping late last night and when I found these gems, I had to order them right away. My last purchase from this place completely impressed me and was beyond my expectations, so I am especially excited about this one!
First, I am only going to give you a glimpse of the shoes, this is my first shoe purchase with them and I will give you the honest details once they arrive. But check out these killer heels- haute.

I am in love with them already, and they were just what I was looking for. Everything about these killer heels is perfect and will definitely bring a bold and stylish statement to any outfit- any. Oh, I cannot wait to play with them!
Next! What actually brought me to browsing through the styles last night was this next selection. I love versatility in an item and seek it out in my wardrobe. Remember my vest on top of a vest? This next look is open to so many options it will be reinvented over and over again. Just look and see here below.

This dress is from Adela and is also found on YesStyle, along with all the selections featured in this post. I already have one dress from the Adela line and it is absolutely adorable, chic, and elegant. I’ll be showing it to you soon, too. What I remember especially about them is how beautiful the fabric was, it was nicely designed and very comfortable. So when I saw this dress, the smocked convertible chiffon pictured above, I was very excited.
It looks like a simple and elegant dress, right? But it doesn’t stop there, it is actually listed as a “skirt” and here is why:

See the double strand on the black dress- when it is left as a single long strand it becomes a very fashionable skirt, perfect for layers. Now, I wouldn’t wear it with a print t-shirt as pictured on the right, but I like the possibilities open- for instance maybe a button up short sleeve puffed shirt. I *do* very much like the flowy blouse with a matching vest though. What a sleek and simple look.
The dress, or “Smocked Convertible Chiffon Skirt”, comes in four colors to chose from, I chose the beige/cream one because I think I’ll personally get more use out of it. (I have so many black dresses as is, I think this color will stand out more in my closet with more variations to mix with).
Alright, these are my latest purchases that I am so excited about I had to tell you about them before they even arrive. You can be sure there will be a follow up post when they do! I’m feeling very confident about these gems.
All of these styles are from here if you would like to take a look for yourself- there is literally something for everyone. I love it. Also, you cannot beat the price.
Anvil: A Modern Tradition
May 24, 2009

Anvil is what I want and look for in a bar- classic traditional cocktails made by proud and talented bartenders. The look is rustic yet modern with a classic and timeless feel, and the details go far.
Like the glassware for instance- vintage glassware that adds charm to each cocktail that is ordered. Bartenders take pride in their work and create wonderful cocktails you truly can enjoy. The environment is wonderful, as is the staff- welcoming and like a moment of time from the past living here in the now. This is a must indulge for the cocktail admirer, or for anyone looking to relax in a timeless and classic fashion.
The ice is perfect; the crafting of libations are done precisely and elegantly like the art it is. When I first walked in and saw a shelf devoted to bitters I knew I was in the right place.

The bartenders have my respect, I love to let them make the drinks they love and introduce me to new and wonderful drinks. Our bartender kept our orders in mind and recommended new ones for us to try based on the styles we had been enjoying- I love that. The attention to detail and pride is a beautiful balance.
Last night was our first visit, and we were pleased to see a menu of cocktail specials which changed on a daily basis. I started my evening with a cocktail by the name of “Smitten” -how could I pass that up? It consisted of Gin, Campari, Lemon, and mint- very refreshing and very lovely. I could see this one being a marvelous drink by the pool on a warm summer day.
From there I moved on to “The Darb” which was composed of Apricot Brandy, French Vermouth, Gin, and Lemon. A very delicious drink indeed- the apricot brandy gave a nice smooth finish after a crisp and refreshing beginning. The texture of the ice danced perfectly along side it, too.

Now, I was too busy enjoying my first cocktail to take a picture- as was Timothy with his “Sazerac” which composed of Rye, Absinthe, Campari and a lemon twist. Though it looked like a cosmo in appearance, after a quick taste you knew this was no girlie drink. I loved it- but I like a strong drink. Timothy did too, but definitely an interesting drink to start the night with. This was lovely, smooth and with a bite that was pleasant to me, but could be considered harsh to others. I’d have this one later in the evening.
From there, he moved on to the “Negroni” which was composed of Gin, Sweet Vermouth, Campari, and Bitters. Sebastian, our bartender, recommended this one to us off the menu- and what a lovely choice.

It was at this point that we found out how small of a world it is- a we were welcomed by friends who happened to already be there! We were fortunate to taste a grand variety of cocktails between all of us- including a sip of a “Gin Fizz” made to perfection and a “Gin Gin Moscow Mule” that was very refreshing!
As the night progressed we found a new favorite- the “Corn N Oil” which was composed of Blackstrap Rum, Falernum, and Angostura Bitters. This one is *fabulous* and a perfect drink to finish an evening with. I love everything about this drink- and it was made beautifully with the right amount of sweetness, not overpowering in the least. The first sip reminded me of a port , which I love, but in a beautifully crafted cocktail. Definitely a must!

For me, I decided to end the evening with an old treat I used to love having in Miami (this bar was making me feel at home and reminded me of my old home). And so I finished the night with a “Caiprihana”- which I’ve posted on in the past as a love of mine that is refreshing when your sitting by the ocean.
This brazilian cocktail has become more popular across the US which is lovely to see. And being in a place where I had bartenders I could trust, I was very excited to order this drink.

A fabulous end to a remarkable evening. We definintely will be frequenting this treasure of a bar and look forward to the wonderful times ahead.
I am calling it a “Modern Tradition” because it is one of the timeless treasures that needs a modern embrace- and with places such as this one opening, it is a fond piece of history and memories reintroduced to modern times for a new and modern tradition.

A Chic And Coral Hidden Treasure
April 19, 2009

Hidden treasure never looked so fabulous- and for something as common as this, I love when a designer has fun and adds a bit of luxury into the most simple items we use. Suddenly getting ready in the morning has a much more glamorous feel, and I know I am excited to be using these lovelies.
And possibly the best part, beyond their gorgeous appearance and feel, is the price and location of these gems… Target! They are only 19.99, and are a limited edition so be sure to pick them up while you can. This is an incredible deal for brushes of any kind, let alone fabulously designed ones such as these. It is definitely a steal I had to act quickly on myself, and wanted you to be aware of them as well.

The collection comes from Sonia Kashuk and is called the “hidden treasure” limited edition brush set, the name is perfect. It includes six beautiful brushes and a travel case to match. All the brushes are very soft against the face and very nice, especially for the price. Love it!
Playing with my make up in the morning has a whole new look and feel; fabulous brushes? Can’t go wrong there, a beautiful and stylish move from Sonia Kashuk for Target.

Alexander McQueen and Target ♥ Here At Last!
April 4, 2009

I’ve always loved you, Target… you’ve been so good to me and now, wow- what can I say? I’m so delighted. Alexander McQueen, a dear favorite and now a beautiful find at Target.
Target + McQ = ♥
Honestly, when I first saw the sneak peaks online at the collection I was underwhelmed. Mostly on the grungy side of things- but it turns out there was so much more to it.
Even online if you visit the Target shop, the options were limiting and did not particularly excite me. And so when I found out which Targets were participating in my area I was not rushed to get there. Some time has passed since the launch and I thought for sure it would be too late, I mean I didn’t even think there would be anything left passed day one.
But to my surprise- not only were there plenty of items available, but all gorgeous- all not posted online, and all in my size. Love it.

When I first saw this dress in particular, it was the only one (also in my size I might add, love it) and had two long ribbons hanging down from it. I have a thing for string/ribbons and the like- if it ties up in some sort of fashion (regardless if I know how it is supposed to be tied, I adore a challenge that can be reinvented) I then must have it. It’s a rule of mine nearly.
So this one became an instant must for me. The material is a dream, feels so heavenly against the skin and has a lovely feminine shape to it. The sleeves are a sublte but sharp design which I greatly admire as well. I love this dress!
Hooray for Alexander McQueen being available for a private Target collection; much love! xx

Falling For Winter’s Charm
March 2, 2009

Lately the weather has been showing some personality- one day it is 85 degrees and then the next it is 50 degrees. And while the sun is still out and keeping things lovely- the chill of the breeze is not something to ignore, especially when it drops another ten or fifteen degrees in the evening. Lovely.
But with this cool winter breeze I cannot help but fall for its charm and many possibilities of winter accessories. It isn’t too often that I am able to wear them, so I am excited for each chance I do get.
It was the first day of this unexpected cool front and the most notable part is the wind. Normally I would seek comfort in the hood of my cozy fur lined coat- but I thought to do something different this time! Something fun and fabulous.
And so I went for a hat, my charming little beret that I rarely have occasions to wear. I bought it from Miss Sixty some time ago and have been waiting for the chance to wear it- it is so adorable.
I have a grand collection of hats- I adore them, but most of them are designed for the spring months and do little for the cool breeze. The few I do have which are designed for winter are made of fur and are a bit over the top for this slightly cool weather. This beret makes for the perfect balance in wonderful style.

Cozy, charming, and an absolute joy to wear- I cannot help but smile while wearing this fashionable hat. I am taking this cool front with lots of style and fun. I don’t know how long it will last, but my scarves and tights are enjoying the occasion while it does!

Doing What You Love & A Little Red Swing
February 23, 2009
It was such a gorgeous Sunday, yesterday- the sun was perfect throughout the entire day and there was a delightful cool wind dancing along. A perfect day to do what you love.
And do what I love- I did; with some wonderful people and the assistance of a little red swing.

The things you love and want always seem to turn up at just the right times, and they are always such a welcoming delight. As was this case with this particularly pretty Sunday. While going about my everyday routines, it is always interesting how paths cross and people and opportunities rise up in the most enjoyable instances. Social networking places like twitter and facebook especially keep things in motion.
My path was fortunate enough to cross an amazing photographer known well by her adorable calling- “three heart photo.” The moment we met and I looked at her work I was excited, it just came about so perfectly.

And so yesterday we played around with a test shoot- I love shoots, the energy, the creativity, the feel- it is something I love being a part of. Tracy of Three Heart Photo is an incredible talent and a delight to shoot with. You can feel her passion in the photos she produces, and I am honored to be a part of them.
The little red swing at the Menil made for great location and lovely Sunday afternoon. And the cool thing was that she had Marc of Click.Wind.Repeat assist her for the day, another very talented photographer I was grateful to meet. He had just gotten this too cool of a camera which he brought along for the shoot, and sneaked in a couple shots to play with. Love it!

Do what you love, and more will come up to you- even when you least expect it. That is the beauty of being fabulous each and every day.
Alexander McQueen And Target Love
January 20, 2009
A man of design genius, the name alone makes my heart anxious. I adore the designs, the creativity, the feminine fantasies concocted by Alexander McQueen. Absolutely beautiful and heavenly.

So when I heard that he is to participate with a collection for the International line at TARGET, you can imagine my excitement- wow!
I don’t know if I can handle waiting, though I suppose I do not have the choice. Simply, I am pleased to know I will have a choice to purchase his designs and the oh so wonderful TARGET store! Yet another reason to love that place.
I haven’t seen all of the designs for this venture just yet, though I do believe a skinny jean is involved- yum, I know whatever he will do will be fantastic and fun. I am looking for some beautiful sleeves and dreamy dresses. In the mean time I felt it appropriate to bask in some of his other more luxurious designs.

Oh how much do I love these designs- they are gorgeous! So dreamy and luxurious! I cannot wait until the TARGET line is officially revealed and available, you can be certain I will be there early and ready. More to come soon on this gem of a discovery. It is planning to be revealed at TARGET stores in March of this year.
