Where’s Your Playsuit? Noir Fashion Fun
October 29, 2009

I know what you’re thinking… a playsuit- really? Not my normal thing but something about this piece made me want to have it. It looks comfortable as can be, but still has that element of style that calls to me. And once I had it on, I knew it was meant to be. I love it.
With the cool weather creeping in, shorts are not going to cut it. But since I want to wear my new piece, I find a way to make it work. Tights are just the thing here, and they add a nice new pattern and feel to complete the look. What was once just a playful cute look as a new edge to it. Pattern tights with a simple solid outfit really make it “pop.”

These tights are a pair I found at Target some time ago, and have always been interesting to mix with outfits. They can be busy if anything else is competing, but something about the form of the playsuit works just lovely with them. I’ll wear a black solid shaped jacket as I go out and the chill picks up, but right now it’s sunny with that cool air that needs just a little extra.
The black playsuit is a find from YES STYLE. I think the bow design on the top is just darling, and not over the top. Just right and adds a nice shape to it all. Very feminine and very cute.

I love outfits like these- they are ready to go in an instant and you look fabulous without any effort what so ever. It just carries it for you. A little volume with texture, a solid and elegant color, and a touch of playfulness with the unique design. Definitely pretty and fabulous. mwah.
Shoes From Philosophy: A Nature Theme
July 8, 2009

I love a shoe with a theme, one that’s playful but not obnoxious. These are some of my favorite shoes to this day, I have had them for years and my fascination with them has yet to go away. They are elegant and dazzling, not to mention inspiring!
They are Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti high heels. I couldn’t begin to tell you their exact age, but I do know I have had them for years. I keep them with great care, in their bag, nice and protected until their next appearance. These shoes liven up any outfit and look so adorable with a spring dress. I am thinking my Adela Smocked dress will be just the perfect match with these.

The details go very far in this pair- the stitching of the leaves, the color of the vine and how long it wraps- finished off by another leaf at each end. A gorgeous flower decorates one side of each shoe for a soft and feminine look. It’s almost like a fairy tale.
These are the shoes I bring out whenever I want to make it an extra cheery day or to celebrate a very special occasion (even if it is one I make up just for the shoes). They are such a unique pair.
I constantly seek shoes of this style- “insane” without over doing any one theme or design. It works together completely. At most, I’ll occasionally wear my pink nail polish that matches the shoe exactly! It looks darling in the spring time. But in the other months, like summer- I’ll wear a darker color to contrast and give it a bit more attitude.
Oh, shoes, I heart you!

A Pretty Print For The Shirt-Dress Look
May 27, 2009

Ah, the shirt dress- I admit I have a long, white, otherwise men’s shirt formed into a dress with the help of a belt. But there is so much more possible with the design; take for instance this fabulous print shirt dress, complete with bow and exotic collar.
I discovered this find at TARGET some time ago, and bought the two prints that stood out to me the most. One is pictured here, more unique and different with color and design. The other is your traditional white shirtdress, but with navy pinstripes and a bow like this one.

I like how it has a unique collar to it, too- I have it buttoned up to show the full potential this look offers. It can also remain unbuttoned for a more traditional standard look, but I am enjoying the puffed stylish look today. I definitely wear both, it gives my wardrobe more variety.
The bow is the same way- and I love bows. With the collar up, I wanted to keep the symmetrical feel alive and so I have the bow centered. Normally if the collar were down, I would have the bow off to the side at an angle. It really does change the feel of the dress, funny how the details can do that.
The rich color and print on this dress makes it pop, so I like to keep my accessories simple. Not much is needed here- I am wearing some simple and adorable silver earrings and a collection of silver bangles across my wrist.
I am sporting the pigtails today, it lets me show off the collar of the dress and have the cute look the pig tails provide at the same time. I usually do an updo with this dress, but with the natural curls and waves I’ve been getting from my hair since I saw my stylist earlier this week, I wanted to keep them present. So the pigtails are doing just the thing for me today.
So here’s a new way to spice up the shirt dress look and keep it interesting and feminine! Gotta love the new ideas and inspirations.

Nails That Rock: Dipped In A Pot Of Gold
May 14, 2009

Here’s a nail polish that is sure to inspire glamor as gold decadence makes a new appearance. Dip your nails into this pot of gold for some serious glitter and shine.
I was making a quick stop at the local drug store when I saw the bottle- I didn’t even know what it was at first, the golden circles were so shiny in it’s little bottle. The bottle’s design was familiar, but a shine like that inside was something unique.

This is MAYBELLINE’s “Pot Of Gold” Nail Polish and it is truly fabulous. It is a clear base that is loaded with both giant circles of glitter as well as hints of the tiny subtle kind we are more used to seeing. It spreads on very smoothly, and depending on how many coats or how much nail polish you decide to put on- the results can be subtle or immense.
I had to go for the full on look just to see how far it would take me. I love the look of the bottle and couldn’t resist getting my nails to match it.
In the future, I think this will be a nice top coat to any color- even a nude shade, for a subtle added texture and shine. There is a lot of room for versatility with this one.
Golden glamor nails that rock- oh you can be sure of that! How marvelous would these nails look with a golden vintage charm like the ones from yesterday’s post? A nice matching possibility- gorgeous.

Glamor With Vintage Golden Leaves
April 29, 2009

Don’t you just love vintage accessories? This one inspires glamor into any outfit, however casual or elegant it may be. The design is simple, yet delicate and sophisticated with a very rich finishing look.
When I first spotted this bracelet, I thought it was gorgeous but had concern- those edges look like the snagging kind, and can quickly ruin an outfit. However once I put it on and gave it a quick little test, I was surprised- nothing happened. In fact, I couldn’t even get it to snag however hard I tried- brilliant. The way the leaves clasp together leave a smooth edge that keeps in and doesn’t attach itself onto clothing.

So this is my new glamor toy and statement piece- it is gold, elegant, and perfect!
Just the piece of vintage I was looking for to give my modern wardrobe the new twist and added glamor I’ve been wanting.
Some accessories are timeless; constantly allowing themselves to be reinvented over and over again. Perhaps that is why I love vintage so much- there is always a story and a history beyond the look and feel.

It is with that in mind that I am incredibly excited and honored to announce the Pretty and Fabulous sponsorship from YesStyle!

For the times I am feeling old hollywood glamor to the times I am feeling like I am five again, they have the style that meets my needs. Not to mention a pretty and fabulous price, very affordable with items ranging from around $20 up to the bigger designers. I love it and cannot wait for you to take a look and see for yourself. I want to know what you like the most.
The Accessories section is like a candy store- sometimes very literally! With designer brands like “Fit-To-Kill” and “FairyTales” it is like a fashion wonderland! Even the names are spectacular.

Because they have so many styles available, this is also a great place for getting gifts for that finicky fashinista- they are bound to have something clever that caters to their individual personality. I already have things in mind for some of my friends that I know they are going to love and be the envy at every party they attend!
Here are some looks I am loving right now, one from Dodostyle and another adorable dress from Spring Girl, I think they are perfect for spring’s feminine image.

Sophisticated classy dresses, girly frilly looks, even casual wear with sweaters and jeans- there is a look for you and this is why I love it so much and am presenting it to you!
This is how much creative they can be- and since I am a sucker for an adorable charm bracelet, let alone candy influenced designs, check this one out:

Sooo adorable, ha- very fun and girlie. You will do best to take a look through their styles and see what you love best, you will be amazed at all they have, I have such a list compiled already!
They have designer items too, and I will leave you with the one that is on my wishlist, I am seriously obsessed with this jacket… I may even drool… and admit to it! How gorgeous is this? Ah, go look and comment back to me! Much love!

Feminine Soft Curls and A Big Red Bow
April 21, 2009

So I woke up this morning feeling especially girlie and feminine, it is such a beautiful day outside perhaps it is the sunshine coming in that is inspiring me. Looking into my closet I knew exactly what I wanted to wear- a white frilly dress, and my hair in soft curls with a bright red ribbon.

I have my curls very subtle, I like them that way with this type of look. They become more noticeable in the wind or when I walk- and I like that. With my dress being very simple and white, I wanted to add a bold color into the mix and thought the red ribbon was just the thing, and still keeps true to the girlie theme I am playing with here.
I also added a little bit of a puff to the pony tail portion of this look, I rarely wear my hair half up and half down, but when I do I like the subtle puff since otherwise it can feel to flat on top. I find it keeps a beautiful balance as it transitions into the curls or waves below.

And the dress- I love a simple yet frilly dress. Love it. If it makes me want to twirl when I am wearing it then I instantly want it. It’s the child in me, and I like to keep it happy (only child, naturally).
I found this dress some time ago I believe at forever twenty one, I haven’t worn it yet this year so I am delighted to be playing in it now.

Oh, did I mention it has the most adorable pockets on the sides? What makes me love this dress in particular is that the uneven hem is longer on the sides rather than the front and back. It is just slightly different and makes it all the more unique and wonderful.

It also has a very vintage look and feel about it, as if it once belonged to an old doll or was hand made from mom.
Even the pockets are larger than normal, giving that feeling of being a child and wanting to fill them with candy! This is certainly a fun one.

Floral Prints: Attack From Spring Part II
April 14, 2009

When I was shopping at forever twenty one last week and found the incredibly bright and bold spring floral dress- it wasn’t the only one I found. I couldn’t decide which one I liked better, so I do what I always do in these situations, I bought both!
I do this often with shoes, too- especially when I find a style I *love* and feels perfect on, I’ll get all the colors available in my liking. When you love something, you have got to go for it, right?
So back to the dress, this one though very floral and colorful indeed, is much softer with a more gentle feminine feel. The splashes of purple on white are beautiful, and inspired me to even paint my nails purple to match (and wear my lavender heels, such a gentle and beautiful color).

The little rosettes at the neckline are adorable and the perfect dainty touch for the dress. It is a straight and flowy drop from there, and the print does everything else.
Simple, chic, and perfect for spring. I am loving these frilly feminine prints.

Attack Of The Spring Print Dress
April 8, 2009

Looking outside the window today it is just gorgeous, the sun is shining and there is a refreshingly cool breeze in the air- nothing too chilly, very comfortable in fact. With Easter just around the corner, I felt inspired to wear a bright and frilly spring dress.
Now, prints and floral designs can be very loud especially when on an incredibly flowy or frilly dress. Having said that, meet- the attack of the floral spring dress!

This is one of the pieces I picked up from forever twenty one, something about it caught my eye ( I know, how can you miss it?) and when I tried it on I had to have it. It is the way it moves- one of those dresses you just want to spin and twirl all day in. Very fun and very cheery. With spring and Easter in mind, this dress is just the attitude I am looking for.
Definitely a love it or hate it type of piece, but hey- sometimes its nice to feel like a child again (or maybe even just a doll).
Its a sunny day and I am having fun with it. After a couple cool days and look back into winter, I am welcoming back spring in full force.

Twisted & Angled Into A Bow Hair Fashion Style
April 2, 2009

It has been a little while since I last styled my hair up and so this morning I was feeling inspired. I just started to play around a bit with my hair, originally considering a classy little side swept style, but then I did something different.

I started down low and off to the side- sectioning my hair off similar to how I normally would for the side swept up do. Only this time instead of clustering the twisted up buns on the same side together, I began to work my way up in a diagonal- not really on purpose at first it just kind of ended up in that direction.
Sometimes you just have to follow your hair to wherever it wishes to go to. As was the case here. I didn’t know what to think at first but it began to grow on me and now I rather like it.
It is different and unique, but still very clean with that classic feel to it. The principles are not wild, but come together in a lovely modern manner.

Dressed up and finished with a bright and long red bow- I wrapped it around each mini-bun and tied the bow on top. So there is a low bun on one side and a high bun on the other (a cute bright bow peaking out). My hair is so dark that I wanted a contrast to make the design have more of a pop factor to it. I think a white ribbon would do the trick as well-but the red has such a nice richness to it.

Has Glamor Gone Mad?
March 20, 2009

Because we are all a little mad…. and love to indulge in our glamorous fantasies. And designer Tom Binns supplies those fantasies with reality from his incredible couture collections. Born in Ireland, Binns completed the education necessary to acquire the skills of a proper jewelry designer and moved on to collaborate with Vivian Westwood and Malcolm MacLaren for his “punk couture” collection.
Creating designs with a “modern classic” feel, he continues to inspire glamor with a whole new twist. Classic with a modern twist is something I have always described my own style as, and seeing his designs makes me feel as though it is a part of my world. I love simplicity as it has its place, but a part of me is head over heels for excessive glamor such as these collections. From Dumont (pictured above and below), Rokoco, to Couture and more- each collection is fabulous and has its own unique character and feel to it.

Perhaps it is my fondness of Alice In Wonderland that continues to inspire me- I love charms and child-like memories represented in a rich and adult form, so when I look for charm bracelets, I want lots and lots of charms with a strong feel to each one. Colors, crystals, and clever twists of strands are things I am always looking for (which, is perhaps also why I adore LOVEMADDS so much, her designs are true and powerful, one of a kind and absolutely glamorous).
And from loaded up bracelets, I have also searched for ridiculously glamorous rings and necklaces. Needless to say, Tom Binns does not disappoint. Maybe glamor needed a little madness to inspire us all.
I know I am in love- and on the hunt! I am determined to capture these beauties for myself. They are too beautiful to be left alone.

(you know my fondness of hearts, elegance, and glamor… the “chain of events” necklace I am incredibly in love with!) To view more about Tom Binns and his incredible collections, visit his site for more.
