Dreams Of Golden Flowers
March 31, 2010

When it comes to accessories, a floral theme is a favorite of mine. Whether done with brilliant colors or kept simple with one tone, but done extravagantly, you can be certain I will be there.
This particular necklace was a lovely find from one of those shops that feels like a warehouse when you walk in. You know the kind, they have an overwhelming selection with the same item in multiple colors and a price point you can hardly walk away from.
But this one was on its own and hidden away as if forgotten. It may have been an inexpensive find, but that doesn’t keep it from being fabulous. I love mixing my styles, from designer items to whatever the world brings. Some of my most unique accessories have been one dollar items found in antique shops. You never know where style will find you.
What I love about this one is how large it is and how lovely the flowers are arranged. Even the giant golden links add a bit of character. The matching earrings are a pure happy bonus!

You have the large golden petals holding little gems keeping the design in full. It just feels right. Because the necklace is such a statement piece, I like to wear it with something simple and black. A classic little black dress worn with these accessories makes you ready for anything. Simply beautiful.

My cat, Aveline, seems to approve, too- lol. She had to sneak herself in. I’ve purchased several new (and stunning) shoes from YESSTYLE which I will be showing you in the next few days, and she has been inspecting them thoroughly. She’s a shoe kitty, but who could blame her. I’ll update you with the details and photos here soon!
What are some of your favorite inexpensive and unexpected finds for accessories? I would love to hear your finds as well!

Dreaming Of Silver Links
January 31, 2010

There is something dreamy about a bunch of silver strands and links elegantly combined, especially when it comes to necklaces. My normal accomplishment of such a look is by cleverly combining necklaces of various lentgths together, making sure the end result is elegant and bold but never a mess. Every now and then you find a piece that on it’s own accomplishes the look beautifully. This piece from Truffles Co. is just on case!
The combination of links and strands with a decorated piece bringing the links together, gently hanging down at an angle depending on how it is worn, works beautifully.

The miss match of link sizes with collected strands and a decorative piece with beads makes for a unique and fashionable look. Worn alone is fantastic, but it also gives you the opportunity to mix another piece into this already elaborate setup. The entire piece is designed quite long, in fact it is long enough to be worn as a belt (it is not unusual for me to find link styled belts and wear them as a necklace, lol).
The way I like to wear this style is by having half of the necklace show in the front, and have the other half decorate the back. This works great with dresses or tops that scoop in the front and the back. It can really dress up the look.

I like to wear it where half of each design is showing for a different kind of look. You could certainly wear it where each uniformed style shows from one view- one in the front and one in the back, keeping the decoration resting on the shoulder. But I like the dynamic of the mix.
Another possibility I am playing with is mixing it up as a choker or or very elaborate bracelet. With the length and change of styles there are many opportunities to explore.
I love playing around with shapes and textures, especially when they are in the same color scheme. Elaborate earrings are another fun area you see the trend in, most commonly with chandelier type earrings. I like earrings that are unique and miss matched; having the same theme so you can tell they belong together. When earrings resemble each other but have different lengths, I think that, too, is a fun style with a lot of opportunities. Take for instance this set that also plays into the links feel. This find is another item from Truffles Co. available on yesstyle.com.

Anyone can miss match a pair of earrings, but getting them to feel like a part of the same set is where it gets interesting. They either have to have been designed that way or play as a part of a theme. They have to look like they belong.
This piece from yesstyle.com does that well. You have all the same elements presented only slightly different, giving it a very unique and bold look. I love it. And it has the links and strands that I have been craving in my fashion.
What fashion cravings have you been having?

A Lovely Summer Look From Zara
June 9, 2009
It has been so sunny and beautiful lately that I was inspired to bring out an old favorite. I love the simple details of this dress, from the thin straps, to the shape and lines, and even just how wonderful it feels.
You can get a better feel of this look for yourself from the video posted here on the site- I’ve also added a necklace that I found some time ago at a boutique shop in Miami. I love how it has a delicate feel with the gold leaves and drops so deep. It adds another contrast against the lines of the dress that I think brings the look even more together.
The shoes are my Vince Camuto Veronica heels which I do love to wear any chance I get, they are gorgeous and fun! But I’m sure you know that by now from my previous posts on them- a very lovely find.
Speak with you soon! xx

A Vest On A Vest- Why Not?
May 20, 2009

In a random styling moment- I ended up wearing a vest on top of another vest. Why not- seemed like a brilliant idea at the time. And with the second vest being such a peculiar one as it is, I think the look works just fine. Definitely something interesting and different.
I’ve worn the blue BCBG vest before and posted on it in the past, but a few weeks ago I had purchased a long black vest that is semi see-through. It is almost a vest-dress really, it is long and has pockets at the side. But, it is still a vest in the top portion design- meaning awkward to wear by itself as it needed some sort of layer beneath it to make it work.
The black vest stops where the picture ends- which makes for an adorable dress- but again, it needs something underneath in order to not be too revealing. So while playing in my closet, I tried it with another vest.

Oh yeah, I also started playing around with my accessories I had forgotten about! Not necessarily for the outfit, but just for play. This was a necklace and earings set that I had dubbed the “rice krispies” accessories- the material is so soft and has a distinct food-like sense about it, I don’t know what it is made of but it is yummy looking.
(And Vanessa, if you’re reading this you’ll remember where they came from maybe! I had nearly forgotten until I recognized the bag it came in, random and unexpected shopping-oh the memories).
Anyway, some random styling but pretty fun in the end- I think I will repeat this look again. It is comfortable and different feel. Plus it is a lovely instance where black and navy look so lovely together.

Absolutely Charming, Absolutely Decadent
May 13, 2009
I love a charm with a secret, and when the glamorous touches of vintage are involved a beautiful look is created. The latest from this charming collection are ones to love:

I adore LOVEMADDS, and when I was looking through her latest collections my eyes were instantly drawn to the Samantha necklace- a pendant case complete with a vintage manicure set. This is a necklace with a secret! I love how vibrant the red is on the handles of the set- so bold and bright yet hidden in the delicate golden case dangling on a gold strand. Beautiful!
It is feminine, delicate on the outside and powerfully armed on the inside- very real and glamorous in presentation. This is something I would love to have dangling around my neck.
Ah, the charm of charms… aren’t they lovely?

They inspire us with past memories and create a place for new ones to come.
I’ve been loving the decadence of gold jewelry this year, and with bold pieces like these they just scream rich and luxury. The details are right and ready to be worn.
I can see single piece bold charms making a great appearance especially towards the later part of the year- with a simple cocktail dress, a large and magnificent golden charm delicately resting from the neck makes a beautiful and fashionable statement.
These golden charms also make for a lovely touch to a casual day outfit- adding the extra elegance and femininity to make a casual outfit all the more inspiring.
Don’t you just love these new pieces? There are even more gorgeous items in her collection you will have to see for yourself.

Vintage With A Walk On The Wild Side
April 28, 2009

So my morning post quickly turned into an afternoon post once I realized my camera was completely dead and needed to be charged! But that’s okay, I am ready now and want to begin with a wooden necklace I found in a vintage shop while in Seattle that definitely walks on the wild side.
I found so many unique treasures on this trip, it is insane!

Do you have a thing for shattered mixed up pieces on a necklace? I know I do, though normally I must admit it tends to be along the lines of pieces of shells, it never crossed my mind to seek out a wooden alternative.
I love everything about this necklace- from the dark to medium and light wood shades, to the texture, to the bold animals resting on either side. It is fabulous!
And a necklace like this can change up an outfit completely, too- it is a statement piece. An otherwise casual and simple outfit really pops with an accessory such as this one. It is very unique and very bold- I adore it.

Animals in my accessories is something I am always looking for, but can be sometimes difficult to do without looking akward or just strange- this one does the look very well while being wild but still having that classy and sophisticated feel.
Wooden jewelry is wonderful for experimenting with “wild” themes since it has such a natural base to work with. A pattern on a wooden bracelet somehow looks much more elegant than the same pattern on a plastic one.
This one is a new favorite of mine, it’s just the balance of big and chunky yet still sophisticated that I love.
Marvelous, Decadent, & A Must For Style
March 30, 2009

What makes you feel marvelous? Fashion at its highest point is when it keeps you feeling confident, strong, determined, and above all yourself at your best.
Sometimes it is a single carefully selected piece that does it all for us- no matter where we are or what we are doing, we feel at our best simply knowing we are wearing it. It carries a strength that we recognize and gather simply from feeling it on our bodies, and it is purposed just for us, alone.

Others may notice it (they most likely will, it stands out), but we don’t wear it for them.. rather, we wear it four ourselves. Appreciation from others is nice, but not necessary though it does remind us of how much we truly love our unique and special pieces.
Where you find your fashion pieces is always a story as well- a memory and an energy. It is why you love it so much, after all. It is marvelous.
I have many power pieces that I like to wear on a regular basis, wearing whichever one feels best for any specific day. Some I share, some I keep just for myself. But this is one I feel a duty to share- it’s too fabulous and there are definitely ones intended for others to find for themselves. You know when you see something and think, oooh- that is definitely for…. ! ..it might be yourself, it might be a friend; that is how I feel about LOVEMADDS collections.
Each piece has a story to tell, whether it has an actual meaning or simply looks like a dream; each piece is powerful and designed with someone in mind.

This necklace and bracelet was given to me as an *absolutely amazing* gift that just blew me away- wow. I love them so much, and the grand thing is that they all have unique factors that remind me of dear childhood memories. Most of these items are very subtle- you actually cannot even see one of the charms in any of these photos, but it is very well placed, beautiful- and meaningful to me and I know it is there. That is all that matters.
Fun part of that is when I wear my hair in a glamorous updo, only someone with a good eye will notice this hidden little charm- but they will appreciate it when they do see it (and I will love it regardless).
Everything falls into place beautifully, and I love how it moves as I walk. It has that one-of-a-kind feeling too when you pick it up or put it on, something photographs don’t capture anywhere near the reality. It is something you must experience for yourself.

Take a look at her ever growing fabulous collections and see for yourself- you will be delighted you did
Where Some People See A Top, I See A Dress
March 24, 2009

Someone once said to me, that where others see a cute top- I see a very cute dress. And I have found this to be very true, indeed! I love dresses, and love the challenge of making anything and everything into a dress in one form or another.
Pants have never been comfortable to me and never attracted me, they are wonderful and have their place but just have not been a match for me, personally. I feel my best in a dress or skirt- and so I go with what I love most.

When I came across this *adorable* top, at a glance I thought it was a dress. It looks and feels like a dress, with its soft layers that just flow so beautifully. But upon picking it up and trying it on- it became very apparent that this was not a dress, the tiniest bit of extra length would be required. There wasn’t anything at the shop to match it with either, but I had to have it. I loved it too much to let it go, just felt so right.
The design is elegant and feels so delicate and soft- and then it has the playful child-like attitude with the fun little patches designed with an obvious stitching pattern, love it! So unique and one-of-a-kind.
Upon returning home, I realized I did have a light blue skirt that may do the trick (be it a slightly different shade than the top, but something close enough that could possibly blend). Light blue is a color I adore wearing, and have the shoes and other accessories to mix and match with ease. All I needed for this top to turn it into a dress was an extra layer or two, and this skirt would have to be the missing piece to the puzzle.

It looks like a cup cake layered in frosting- such a lovely mix of styles and character. This is one of my favorite outfits, I *absolutely* love this style. And there are so many ways to wear it for all occasions- the accessories give it a new charm each and every time. No matter where I go, I feel fabulous in it.
I also *absolutely* love the necklace I am wearing with it too, a very special one-of-a-kind piece… but more on that later! You’ll have to wait to discover the details on that one ;D It is definitely very fabulous.
