Brown: A Neutral Earthy Color For Fashion
December 26, 2010
Whenever I wear the color brown, nature like items come to mind. I think of the fall in the cooler temperatures, and I think about the flowers when spring comes around. Brown can be elegant and sophisticated, and it can also be whimsical, young, and playful. I tend to think of more serious looks when it comes to fall and winter, saving my more playful items for spring; but I recently found a dress that is a good mix of both worlds.
First of all, I love the texture. This controlled crinkled fabric is beautiful and adds a great character and charm to the dress. The soft beige bow keeps the look elegant and balances out the texture of the fabric. It is feminine and delicate- showing both youthful factors but in a very elegant manner.

In the fall and winter months, you can wear a dress like this with a beautiful coat or cape (or in my case, I decided to wear it with a vintage fur wrap since the neutral earthy tones went so well together), gloves, and maybe some more heavy decadent jewelry (I’m thinking gems here). Or you can wear it in the spring with a cream or white cardigan and sandals. The dress will look very different and have two very different attitudes. I love how neutral tones are really open to inserting your own personality.
This particular dress has subtle golden sparkles within the fabric, adding another feminine touch. I like to wear warm golden colors with brown. I think it looks more elegant, more rich.
When it comes to neutral shades, I like to wear my beige and cream tones in a more dainty delicate manner- really playing into the neutral shade. I like to wear soft make up, beige or delicate shoes (nothing chunky, unless it is a nude color that plays into the dress) and keep my jewelry very delicate as well. With brown I feel more experimental- more decadent. I’ll put my hair in an updo, I’ll have heavier make up, I’ll add heavier accessories and make the look more adult (as opposed to a doll child-like look, more grown up). How do you like to wear your neutral shades?

Match Maker: Shoe And Dress Edition
November 18, 2010

Once upon a time I had a phase where if I could find the matching color shoe to an outfit- it was mine. No question about it. Many years have passed since that time and I must admit I have been following a trend of classic black shoes- gorgeous and interesting shoes, but primarily your classic tones.
So as time passed and I moved, my various colored shoes were placed into boxes and forgotten until now. Sad but true. I discovered this adorable frilly dress from TokyoFashion on yesstyle.com and had to have it. I wasn’t sure how I would wear it, but you always find a way to make it work. It was then I remembered that I had a pair of shoes this *exact* color. I’m not going to lie, I got excited. So like a crazy person I went through my boxes and found the shoes! I actually found them on the first try, I’m proud of myself for that. I cannot even remember where I got them… but they needed to be worn again! This dress is the perfect match.
Flutter-Sleeve Ruffle Chiffon Dress
I know it is winter and that pastels are the color of spring, but I must admit I like the contrast. I like to be a little different in my own way. Also, I cannot resist an outfit that makes me feel like a “doll”. Colors still work in the winter, they just have to be done in the right way. I think mixing up spring colors with the contrast of winter make up and accessories can be a fun challenge. It’s not an every day look of winter but it can be done. Colors I think really work in the winter, especially right now, would be something of a magenta or fushia color. I’m on the hunt for more dresses and shoes that pop with the right kind of color. There’s something that is just so beautiful about it, and makes everyday items look higher end.
I like reinventing looks within my closet. And I love how some of my favorite items can survive the trends of all the seasons. Right now color is on my mind. It will work for the current season and be ready for our spring and summer collections. Thus, you don’t have to feel guilty about a shoe or dress that can only be worn once, and now.
I challenge you to revisit some old favorites in your closet. Find something new to give the old item a new life. We all have treasures even we are unaware of. Go find yours!

Shoe Lust: Heels To Fall For
May 6, 2010
I’ve been doing a little window shopping which somehow always leads me to finding new shoes. Ones to dream about, ones to match dresses to, and then ones that amaze you in price. At least that has been the case for me. Wow, have I found some killer heels that are no-guilt when it comes to meeting your budget!
FIRST: The Under $50

KVOLL is a brand that is new to me on yesstyle.com. I just ordered a pair (not pictured here, I want to surprise you when they come in!) to get a feel for their style and quality. Now, for the price they are currently listed at… it is pretty impossible to resist. They are adorable! I’ll let you know what I think once my shoes arrive. Right now, I’m just excited about the look of them.
You can find out more about each shoe pictured in this post by clicking the image of the shoe. Prices are always subject to change but at the time of writing this post, the two shown above are only $35. Yep!
COCOEVE is a brand I have purchased from in the past with wonderful results. Their darling and fashion forward designs have always caught the attention of shoe admirers when I am wearing them. The shoes pictured just above and below are both from Cocoeve. Aren’t they fabulous?
The ones above are prefect for any occasion, and the gold chains add an extra fabulous factor. The color tone is soft and elegant, but the design gives it that extra it factor.
The red little darlings below have me going “awe” each time I look at them. I just purchased a darling little red dress and I keep thinking these shoes, with their cute little bow, would be an adorable combination.
Okay! Next up….
The Over $50 and Under $100
Just in the next price level, these are shoes that have that dream-like quality.
MIZ SHOES: First of all, love the color. I’ve been getting more dresses in this exact shade even. The design is dainty and feminine and has that high fashion look. It reminds me of something that would have just stepped off the runway. These are beautiful, and they also come in black. Black may be a classic, but I vote for the color on this one.
STYLEKELLY: Keeping in the feel of spring and summer, these are a pretty and girlie and elegant shoe for any lady of fashion. The ruffles are eye catching but not over the top, and the dainty bow is just precious. I like the color here as it is perfect for the nude and lighter shade dresses. A floral dress could go great here, too. I’m loving the look of these!
LA FRESHA: From pretty and delicate to bold and fierce, these heels let people know you are serious! I have many shoes from LA FRESHA in my closet and wear them regularly-they are comfortable, look fabulous, and so far have been holding up well. I can wear my shoes pretty hard from time to time, so something that can keep up with me is important.
This has a gladiator or armor type look to them. They are unique and definitely statement makers. Color wise they stay to a simple black with gold accents, but look at this design. An elegant toe and then an edgy ankle, what a combination. I really like the way the ankle cuff is large and fitted, but also has a large cut in the back so it doesn’t swallow up your ankle completely. You want the skin to show to keep the form flattering. This is a serious shoe I have my eyes on- love it!
Ah… I love looking at shoes. Well these are the ones giving me new inspirations; I’ll be sharing some of my recent favorites I’ve been wearing with you over the next week. Stay tuned!

The Little Red Dress
May 4, 2010

This spring and summer is all about mixing nudes with a splash of color. The little black dress may be a classic but what about the little red one?
When the design is simple and classic, dare to add some bold color! The trick with color is to find a balance, you don’t want to over do it. Keep the contras in balance with soft natural tones and controlled splashes of color (as in this case, very light clean make up paired with a bold red dress and red lipstick to match).
The same could be done with a pink or yellow, only in the case of yellow keep your lipstick a peachy tone or play with a hot pink. Find your color and go for it with a classic design. This dress pictured here is a pleated tube dress from KENZI on yesstyle.com. You can view more styles from Kenzi on YES STYLE by clicking below.

A design so simple that stands out from color gives you a lot of options. On its own it is fabulous, but when you mix in accessories it becomes an entirely new look. This dress can be worn simple for the earlier afternoon, and then can be glamed out in the evening with some black tights, accessories, and an elegant updo. Of course, in all of these styling ideas you must maintain a balance.
For this look, I kept my make up simple with soft skin tones for a glowy and natural look. KATE has some great colors that leave a clean and flawless finish, but also goes on smoothly.
I just started using them recently and have been happy with the results. Sometimes eye shadows are flaky and don’t cover, or worse they cover too much and leave a mess. So far these have been treating me nicely, and it feels light on the skin which I like.
I am going to have to try their lipstick and lip glosses next. I wanted to start with the eye shadows to get a feel for quality and I am thrilled. Their mascara is really nice, too. I’ve been using it for a few weeks. It feels very silky, and though sweat-proof it is designed to come off gently with warm water. That’s something I am pretty cautious of, I don’t like anything too harsh. Even normal waterproof mascara is something I use only when I need to since it is rough on your eyelashes. We’ve got to keep them, soft, luscious, and long after all!

A Walk In Wonderland
April 17, 2010

There are some things I simply cannot resist, like channeling my childhood love of fashion! Alice in Wonderland is a favorite of mine and I adore anything that resembles something of the story or makes me think of it. It is an inspirational source for me.
So when I spotted this dress on yesstyle.com it was an absolute must. Sometimes you just have to have fun and go for it. It makes me feel ready for a tea party where the dormouse might show up (it even inspired me to bring out an old toy from childhood, ha).

THE DRESS:
JESSICA BROOKE: Ruffle Bib Pleated Dress
Available on YESSTYLE.com

Okay, it isn’t your everyday casual dress, but so what. Sometimes you have to do something just because you want to and it makes you smile. This dress could also be worn in an editorial style with a nice elegant updo, but I wanted to keep it young and fresh. The ruffles are adorable and the fit is feminine but fun. It is also available in black which is a more gothic look, but also opens plenty of opportunities for fun styling.
For me, this dress is a reward to my childhood love and bringing in with fashion. What are some of your childhood loves and how do you incorporate them into your style?
If an outfit is too daring, there is always the subtle but still fun approach of accessories (just like this one: darling bunny and flower earrings that are simply adorable).

Pretty In Pink For Spring
April 2, 2010

Spring is here and pastels have returned to style. Nudes and light pink shades are especially very nice this season. My latest find is a very pink and girlie number that is… well, as girlie as it gets! With a beautiful mix of textures, layers, and even a beautiful pair of shoes to match- this is a spring feminine dream.
DRESS: SHY SHY Set-Sequined Tulle Camisole + Satin Tulle Hem Slipdress
SHOES: STYLE LINE Open-Toe Platform Stilettos

Both these pieces are available from YESSTYLE. The shoes are available in a few different colors, and as tempting as the classic black pumps are, I had to go for the pink and push the girlie factor with this whimsical dress.
Just look at all the elements going on here. Sequins, satin, a frilly skirt and mix of textured layers all come together with the single light pink color base. The shoes keep the color a solid look and add an extra girlie touch with a heart shaped charm. With girlie numbers like this, spring has a lot to offer us this year.

These shoes have a nice cushioned feel to them and the design is very playful. Color aside, check out the detail of this zipper design and heart shaped charm finish:
A classic high heeled peep-toe shoe gets a whole new look with a zipper accenting line and charm in the back. In any color, these shoes rock!
I actually have a few pink dresses and tops in the same shade and am looking forward to matching them with my new heels. But this dress takes the show, it’s just darling and perfect!
What colors are grabbing you this spring?

I ♥ Lace: A Fashion Obsession, Part II
December 27, 2009

The beauty of lace is that there are so many ways to wear it: from accessories like hair decorations, gloves, purses and scarves to dresses and tights making an outfit truly stand out.
In my last lace obsessed post I was playing with the idea of lace tights to add more texture and style to your fashion. With the winter trend of thigh high boots, patten tights fit just right in creating a bold and sexy style.
Black is classic and elegant and works lovely with winter’s charm. Later on in the spring nude and white lace may add a soft but playful factor for us to look forward to. But back to the season at hand and how we can have fun with our style.
I have been experimenting with lace quite a lot lately- and not just how it can redesign shoes. Take for instance using lace as a layer and foundation for your existing wardrobe. A long sleeve laced top goes a long way when worn under the right dress or tank top. It is the perfect selection for updating your entire wardrobe, giving old pieces a new feel in an instant. If you want to take lace even further then consider a piece such as this lucky find: A Lace Trim Jumpsuit from TIAN MU.

What I like about this selection is that not only is it one-of-a-kind, it is also all once piece. Well, one piece save for the black tube top underneath. If you have a unique tank top you can play with the lines of the design even more. But this once piece with the casual shorts and lace collar, front, and sleeves creates a simple look that is not to be ignored.
Because it is a single piece it leaves plenty of room for accessories- from vests to belts to playful jewelry pieces. I like the outfit on its own honestly, but I also look forward to reinventing the look over and over again. I’ve been thinking of playing with belts, skinny to “wow” factor big, and different undergarments first. Maybe even a colorful long sleeve top underneath to add a new flair. There’s plenty of ideas available and this very unique outfit will have a different feel each time I wear it because of all these options.
TIAN MU has lots of other great styles which have caught my eye, many of them playing with lace in different ways, too. From baby doll dresses to leggings, there’s lots of great ideas and inspirations to be found.

It’s like Walking Around In My Bed, Only Adorable!
May 8, 2009

You know that feeling when you slip under the covers of a freshly made bed- the extra coziness surrounds you and you melt into the sheets? That is exactly how this dress feels the moment you put it on- I didn’t know that was possible. I love it.
I decided to wear my adorable new dress from Dodostyle found on YesStyle.com - this one is the first one that caught my eye on the site. With delicate frills and lace I knew I had to have it, also for those who know me well.. if it has ribbon on it chances are strong that I will be getting it.

What first caught my attention with this dress was the sleeves- they called them Lantern Sleeves. The print has just the slightest sheerness to it (the body of the dress itself has an incredibly silky black slip attached to it, preventing the dress from being see-through and adding that additional layer of coziness). And then the sleeves flare out with black lace- matching the bottom of the dress as well.
This is an adorable dress that makes for an easy and stylish look- not much is needed here as the print and frills are a nice balance. I wore this dress with my Marcianno black patent heels, if I added anything else to this look it may be black tights, but honestly the dress is so cozy I would prefer to leave it as it is.

The dress also comes in an off white/cream shade which is lovely for the spring in summer. I am enjoying the black version here as it will also be great for the winter.
I cannot get over how cozy this dress is, it seriously feels like I am walking around while being tucked in bed- I love it! I just have to remember to stay awake when my cocktail comes around

Style- Oh, Yes!
April 22, 2009
What are your styleobsessions? You’ve seen quite a few of my own inspirations and I love to keep my collections growing. Everything from unique and creative dresses and accessories to beautiful shoes- you name it! We all love our style companions, especially discovering the items that meet the best of our personalities.
It is with that in mind that I am incredibly excited and honored to announce the Pretty and Fabulous sponsorship from YesStyle!
They are my latest obsession, and with great and fabulous reason; there is something for everyone and for all of my moods and attitudes. For the times I am feeling old hollywood glamor to the times I am feeling like I am five again, they have the style that meets my needs. Not to mention a pretty and fabulous price, very affordable with items ranging from around $20 up to the bigger designers. I love it and cannot wait for you to take a look and see for yourself. I want to know what you like the most.
The Accessories section is like a candy store- sometimes very literally! With designer brands like “Fit-To-Kill” and “FairyTales” it is like a fashion wonderland! Even the names are spectacular.

Because they have so many styles available, this is also a great place for getting gifts for that finicky fashinista- they are bound to have something clever that caters to their individual personality. I already have things in mind for some of my friends that I know they are going to love and be the envy at every party they attend!
Here are some looks I am loving right now, one from Dodostyle and another adorable dress from Spring Girl, I think they are perfect for spring’s feminine image.

Sophisticated classy dresses, girly frilly looks, even casual wear with sweaters and jeans- there is a look for you and this is why I love it so much and am presenting it to you!
This is how much creative they can be- and since I am a sucker for an adorable charm bracelet, let alone candy influenced designs, check this one out:

Sooo adorable, ha- very fun and girlie. You will do best to take a look through their styles and see what you love best, you will be amazed at all they have, I have such a list compiled already!
