Coming To You From The Future In Style
June 1, 2009

Every time I wear this dress I think, “the future” especially since Timothy has officially labled it the “I come from the future dress” ha ha. With a silver shine, shiny black belt, and unique collar- it definitely has a look and feel all to its own.
I found this fun little number some time ago at forever 21, and I still love wearing it now. It was the only thing like it at the time, and even now I still don’t see to many similar styles running around. I like having a look to myself, and this one is a fun one.

What I like about the dress, aside from the beautiful silver color, is the shape and design. I love how it has giant sleeves, a unique collar which can be closed or left open, a cinched waist that reveals the feminine form, and then builds up volume in the bottom of the dress. Volume and shape are things I love to play with in my fashion.
My silver heels passed away in an unfortunate rainy evening in South Beach, so until I find another I decided to wear my Michael Kors Grey bootie heels. Black pumps I think would also look lovely, but I felt like wearing my grays today. Ah, shoes.
For my hair, just a simple french twist with a clean puff on top. I added a headband for a final touch, it is there to look cute and has no other purpose in this instance! Timothy like’s to call this my “ballerina hair” which I can also agree with. I like the look, and it is elegant and comfortable at the same time. Lovely.

A New Kind Of Twist
May 23, 2009

If you enjoyed the different kind of updo from the previous post, you’re going to love this new variation. It uses the same technique revealed in the Grand Collection, taken to a whole other level.
The beauty of this variation, too, is that it works with various lengths of hair. It can look sooo cute with short hair, giving it anywhere from a spunky look to an elegant and chic graceful one. It is all on how you want to play it.
I have long hair, so I let it all just melt together. I think I would add more curls to give it extra body and texture the next time I do this- but it works well with the subtle waves just as well.

For those signed up for The Pretty Society Exclusive Newsletter, you are going to love how simple and quick this look is to do. I’ll be illustrating the step by step instructions on both variations- this one above and the updo from the previous post. I’m loving how elegant and easy these looks are to construct.
And with the variations, there’s room to add your own personality and unique creative touch into the mix- make it your own and rock this look!
Elegance and glamor don’t have to be complicated or time consuming- it is the simple details we do for ourselves that shine the brightest and make a difference.

Nails That Rock: Dipped In A Pot Of Gold
May 14, 2009

Here’s a nail polish that is sure to inspire glamor as gold decadence makes a new appearance. Dip your nails into this pot of gold for some serious glitter and shine.
I was making a quick stop at the local drug store when I saw the bottle- I didn’t even know what it was at first, the golden circles were so shiny in it’s little bottle. The bottle’s design was familiar, but a shine like that inside was something unique.

This is MAYBELLINE’s “Pot Of Gold” Nail Polish and it is truly fabulous. It is a clear base that is loaded with both giant circles of glitter as well as hints of the tiny subtle kind we are more used to seeing. It spreads on very smoothly, and depending on how many coats or how much nail polish you decide to put on- the results can be subtle or immense.
I had to go for the full on look just to see how far it would take me. I love the look of the bottle and couldn’t resist getting my nails to match it.
In the future, I think this will be a nice top coat to any color- even a nude shade, for a subtle added texture and shine. There is a lot of room for versatility with this one.
Golden glamor nails that rock- oh you can be sure of that! How marvelous would these nails look with a golden vintage charm like the ones from yesterday’s post? A nice matching possibility- gorgeous.

Because Aprons Can Be Dresses, Too
May 11, 2009

How adorable and fun is this? It is called an apron dress- but it is more subtle than that I think. I can see where the name comes from, but don’t be fooled- this one is not for the kitchen.
I love bows, they are so adorable. The bow on this dress is perfectly placed too- and the same color bow to dress fabric is a lovely touch as well. It adds more to the dress’s unusual design and shape.

This dress consists only of the gray fabric you see- the black top underneathe is a separate piece, both items came from YesStyle.com (I love them- they are fabulous!) and both fit and feel lovely on. I purchased the black top with the bow sleeves when I had the apron dress in mind- also I thought it would be a fun top to experiment with my other jumper style dresses.
Adding unique sleeves to an otherwise sleeveless dress reinvents the look all together, and I think this top in particular will make a dramatic effect.

The bow-tie sleeved top is from Dodostyle and comes in multiple colors- black, white, and pink are the ones that come immediately to mind, you can look and see more for yourself on YesStyle.com as there were some other variations on the style of the sleeves.
The apron dress comes in two colors, too- gray as seen here and also in black. I chose gray because I can mix it out more within my wardrobe- but I think a black apron dress with a white puffed-bow sleeve would also be *very* adorable!
Hmmmmm….. speak with you soon!

Duchesse De Bourgogne, A Lovely Taste
May 10, 2009

Each and every time I stroll through the many isles of Total Wine & Spirits, I cannot help but taste a new Belgium beer. There are so many unique single bottle options available, though I love my classics I always love to indulge in new tastes.
During my last visit, a new bottle caught my eye called “Duchesse De Bourgogne” which is also known as “The Burgundies of Belgium”. It fed into my curiosity and so a taste was needed.

Immediately upon opening and pouring, the first smell is strong of dark molasses. It reminded me of childhood when I would wander into the kitchen and smell the delicious spices of freshly baked dark gingerbread. Rarely do I get to indulge in such a wonderful smell, and with this beer the tone was perfect. So beautiful and reminiscent, I longed for my first taste.
Duchesse de Bourgogne is a reddish-brown ale from the West Flanders region of Belgium, top fermented, and carefully matured in oak casts.
It is purely natural and unpasteurized, leaving a full clean and beautiful taste. The aroma and tastes returned me to my loves of childhood, but in a grown up and matured fashion. It is so lovely and pure, and elegantly presented. The texture is light to medium and balances well against the fragrance of the nose.
I purchased a small bottle here for a first taste, but am anxious to try it again in it’s full bottle- cork included, naturally. I love the stylings of a Belgium beer, and this one is a lovely discovery.

If you have a love for dark and rich freshly baked gingerbread- this beer will take you back and reward your taste buds lovingly. I definitely recommend it and look forward to another taste!
Does Your Dress Have Wings?
May 7, 2009

A dress with wings- and yet subtle and elegant still. I love the way this dress moves and feels- so beautifully silky and delicate. The design is simple but unique, and a discovery found unexpectidly at an all too common place, too-
TARGET, yet again another beautiful discovery!
The straps have a subtle and elegant detail to them as well which I love- simple twists making it a modern and lovely design.

Now, as much as I adore this design there is an image that will not vanish from my mind since I heard it- when I first purchased this dress and went to wear it out, my fiancee made a certain comment that horrified me. For those who dislike bugs as much as me, you may not wish to continue to read this line… but he dared to call it a ‘cockroach’ dress!
I was disgusted and horrified when he first said it, especially since I could then see it too! But you know what, despise the horrors of that description, I still love the dress (and deteste the bug). It is a comfortable and elegant dress and so be it if it resembles the insect… the insect wished it was this luxurious!
So here it is, my dress with wings.

Vintage With A Walk On The Wild Side
April 28, 2009

So my morning post quickly turned into an afternoon post once I realized my camera was completely dead and needed to be charged! But that’s okay, I am ready now and want to begin with a wooden necklace I found in a vintage shop while in Seattle that definitely walks on the wild side.
I found so many unique treasures on this trip, it is insane!

Do you have a thing for shattered mixed up pieces on a necklace? I know I do, though normally I must admit it tends to be along the lines of pieces of shells, it never crossed my mind to seek out a wooden alternative.
I love everything about this necklace- from the dark to medium and light wood shades, to the texture, to the bold animals resting on either side. It is fabulous!
And a necklace like this can change up an outfit completely, too- it is a statement piece. An otherwise casual and simple outfit really pops with an accessory such as this one. It is very unique and very bold- I adore it.

Animals in my accessories is something I am always looking for, but can be sometimes difficult to do without looking akward or just strange- this one does the look very well while being wild but still having that classy and sophisticated feel.
Wooden jewelry is wonderful for experimenting with “wild” themes since it has such a natural base to work with. A pattern on a wooden bracelet somehow looks much more elegant than the same pattern on a plastic one.
This one is a new favorite of mine, it’s just the balance of big and chunky yet still sophisticated that I love.
Style- Oh, Yes!
April 22, 2009
What are your styleobsessions? You’ve seen quite a few of my own inspirations and I love to keep my collections growing. Everything from unique and creative dresses and accessories to beautiful shoes- you name it! We all love our style companions, especially discovering the items that meet the best of our personalities.
It is with that in mind that I am incredibly excited and honored to announce the Pretty and Fabulous sponsorship from YesStyle!
They are my latest obsession, and with great and fabulous reason; there is something for everyone and for all of my moods and attitudes. For the times I am feeling old hollywood glamor to the times I am feeling like I am five again, they have the style that meets my needs. Not to mention a pretty and fabulous price, very affordable with items ranging from around $20 up to the bigger designers. I love it and cannot wait for you to take a look and see for yourself. I want to know what you like the most.
The Accessories section is like a candy store- sometimes very literally! With designer brands like “Fit-To-Kill” and “FairyTales” it is like a fashion wonderland! Even the names are spectacular.

Because they have so many styles available, this is also a great place for getting gifts for that finicky fashinista- they are bound to have something clever that caters to their individual personality. I already have things in mind for some of my friends that I know they are going to love and be the envy at every party they attend!
Here are some looks I am loving right now, one from Dodostyle and another adorable dress from Spring Girl, I think they are perfect for spring’s feminine image.

Sophisticated classy dresses, girly frilly looks, even casual wear with sweaters and jeans- there is a look for you and this is why I love it so much and am presenting it to you!
This is how much creative they can be- and since I am a sucker for an adorable charm bracelet, let alone candy influenced designs, check this one out:

Sooo adorable, ha- very fun and girlie. You will do best to take a look through their styles and see what you love best, you will be amazed at all they have, I have such a list compiled already!
They have designer items too, and I will leave you with the one that is on my wishlist, I am seriously obsessed with this jacket… I may even drool… and admit to it! How gorgeous is this? Ah, go look and comment back to me! Much love!

Bunny Ears, A Different Kind Of Hairstyle
April 12, 2009
Bunnies have been on my mind, especially with all the chocolate and marshmallow ones dancing around; we even had a visit from the Easter Bunny at our community event (and yes- we did take a photo, you may have to check my twitter @teresakitten to see it- this one will be a twitpic exclusive I think). But with bunnies everywhere, why not a hairstyle, too? This one is adorable and fun quite well on its own!
It has a clean silhouette which I love in a hairstyle involving two parts- though it may be bunny ears, it still looks rather chic, particularly from the side view.
It isn’t until you get a glimpse from the back that you see the full vision of what they are. From the front, because I began the ears at a medium height in the back (you can certainly make them more obvious by creating them high on top!) from the front you get just a cute little glimpse of the ears. I did not look to overdoing it, merely something unique to play around with.
Definitely makes for a playful Easter holiday look, and I am enjoying having them! I wish you all a wonderful Easter- relax, love your style, and enjoy the time with your loved ones!
